Overview

Located in the Northumberland National Park and the International Gold Tier Dark Sky Park, Brown Rigg is perfect for a quiet and relaxing break for couples, families, and large groups. Our site, 24 acres in total, is also suitable for walkers and cyclists. The Pennine Way Walking Trail and the Sandstone Way Cycle route pass the entrance to Brown Rigg and National Cycle routes 10 and 68 are just yards away. We offer secure lockable storage for bikes and there is a laundry/drying room on site.

The four, beautifully refurbished, self catering lodges are comfortable, spacious and well equipped with an open plan kitchen, dinning area and sitting room. Each lodge has three bedrooms sleeping up to six people, between a mix of double, twin, king and bunk rooms and are available on an individual basis, or you can make a whole site booking. All of the sitting rooms and rear bedrooms have fabulous views over open countryside, where our resident sheep and horses graze.

There is plenty of space for children to play and the Master bedroom in Pennine and Hadrian have patio doors that open out onto a games field, which is ideal for playing rounders or football. The tarmac courtyard in front of the lodges is also great for children to cycle on their bikes, scooters and roller blades. There is also a BBQ area and private parking directly outside the lodges.

The Function and Games Hall is available for use by guests unless it has been booked for a private function (for which a separate charge applies). The Hall can cater for a large number of people and is excellent for celebrations, meetings or for just eating together. There is a pool table and a table tennis table.

Dog friendly.

Free WiFi available.

Shops and restaurants are a short walk away in nearby Bellingham.

Hadrian`s Wall, Kielder and Kielder Observatory are within easy reach.

A super place to stay on a roadtrip to Scotland

JohnThompsonHerts,
Driving to Scotland in a day was never an option with an elderly Jack Russell and a fidgety Basset hound. An overnight stay at Brown Rigg provided the perfect solution to help us unwind, rest and recover. The guest rooms are very comfy and spotless and the communal kitchen was very well-equipped. The setting is very picturesque and our dogs loved playing in the HUGE enclosure. We loved feeding the horses and sheep and cooked a hearty breakfast before continuing our journey to Scotland. We also booked an overnight stay on the way home and plan to book a lodge soon from which to explore the wonders of Northumberland. The friendly owners have created a brilliant venture here where employees seem just as happy as the holiday-makers...a good sign!

Quality accommodation

104HockeyMum, Darlington, United Kingdom
Stayed in a guest room for a long weekend & was very impressed. The room was a good size & extremely comfortable - best bed ever away from home! Also good shower room & all you could want in the communal kitchen to prepare a meal. Keypad entry an excellent idea. The booking process was very efficient and the friendly warm - we will be back.

Top Quality Accommodation

Pipskydog, Blackpool, United Kingdom
Stayed for one night in Guest room with a shared kitchen. Top quality brand new fixtures and fittings most definitely 5 star. The shared kitchen has all you would need to self cater and here again everything is the very best. Can recommend - a great change from usual b and b's.

weekend booked

NH234, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom
We booked the entire grounds for a 40th birthday with around 50 guests. The management couldn't have friendlier with exceptional customer service. After visiting the Lodge before booking we received prompt correspondence via email regarding extra bed space and facilities. The accommodation for each lodge was beautiful! All our friends were so impressed and many have asked about visiting again! We also had access to a dance hall and when asked for extra seating, the management were so helpful and accommodating. They left us to it and provided us with the privacy we had hoped. The beds were comfortable, the lodges were immaculate and we even left a phone and others bits behind to which they responded quickly and posted them out to us. What a beautiful place to spend partying but the management really are lovely people. We will be booking again as it would be silly not to!
