Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery is an award-winning, independent family-friendly Accredited Museum with a permanent exhibition exploring 10,000 years of local history.
Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery in Alnwick has been named winner of the Family Friendly Museum Award 2021. Run by the charity Kids in Museums, the national award is given annually to one museum, gallery, historic home or heritage site in the UK that goes the extra mile to provide an excellent experience for families.
Its Gallery hosts an inspiring programme of art, textile and history-based exhibitions. Established in 2002, it is located in a Grade 2 listed former church in the medieval market town of Alnwick and is a People’s Museum that celebrates and preserves local heritage.
It is a volunteer led and run charity, fully accessible and open from 10am - 4pm on 6 days a week (Tues - Sun) (from March to October and 11am - 3pm November - February - see website) and every bank holiday Monday and Friday. Located in the Castle Quarter close to the Bailiffgate entrance to Alnwick Castle with 4 hour free parking on the street outside and close to town car parks and the bus station. Alnmouth for Alnwick Railway Station is 4 miles away.
