28 Years Later Filming Locations

Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into years...

Horror fans across the country can finally see the long-awaited zombie sequel: 28 Years Later. The third in the British franchise sees the return of Danny Boyle as director and Alex Garland as writer — a deliciously scary combination.

Set to be released on the 20th of June, 28 Years Later picks up the story that began in 2002 with 28 Days Later — a breakout role for actor Cillian Murphy. Nearly three decades on, we’re led through the post-apocalyptic world left behind by the ‘rage’ virus. An ensemble cast, including Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes, portrays survivors as they navigate this new reality.

Take away the blood and gore, and you might just notice that the film’s dramatic backdrop is none other than beautiful Northumberland. The region plays a central role in the story’s mood and suspense.

Read on for some of the most memorable filming locations of 28 Years Later (without the zombies).
