A time to discover something special
A series of milestone anniversaries offers the perfect reason to explore Northumberland. From protected landscapes to historic sites and much loved attractions, it is a chance to experience the county through moments that bring its story to life.
Celebrations keep building across the county this season. Kielder Forest marks its 100th anniversary with a centenary celebration weekend on 5 and 6 September, while Northumberland National Park continues to mark 70 years with exhibitions unfolding across the season. Inland at Ford & Etal Estates, Heatherslaw Corn Mill celebrates 50 years of milling, still welcoming visitors to see traditional flour production in action. The Mountain Rescue Team marked 60 years of service in the hills and moorland of the county this July.
As autumn arrives, the spotlight turns to two special milestones. Alnwick marks 25 years since Harry Potter first cast its spell over the castle, The Alnwick Garden marks its 25th anniversary on 1 October, and later that month Berwick Lighthouse celebrates 200 years standing watch over the coast.
Wherever you go, there is something to be part of.
