Due to COVID-19 regulations, no events will be going ahead until restrictions are lifted. We can't wait for you to attend our food festivals
with celebrity chefs, get into your stride at our walking festivals with fellow hikers, or stargaze at one of our observatories
when it is safe to do so.
When government guidelines allow for it, Northumberland plays host to foodie festivals and agricultural shows offering a smorgasbord of delicious local produce and an insight into our rural culture. Tuck into local dishes at Berwick, Alnwick and Tynedale, and discover walking festivals to strike out upon in Haltwhistle, Rothbury and Berwick.
There are events ranging from the downright bizarre, like Allendale’s Tar Bar’l where costumed men celebrate New Year by carrying flaming barrels of tar on their heads; to events to learn new skills, like star gazing into Northumberland’s darkest skies at Kielder Observatory.
English Heritage, the National Trust and Northumberland National Park run events and activities throughout the year. Visit their websites for more details or browse our events listings for more information.
