Northumberland Events Guide

Where else can you find a puffin festival, international music events and a cavalcade of 150 horses and riders setting off to ‘ride the bounds’, but in Northumberland?

From food festivals to agricultural shows celebrating rural life, Northumberland plays host to a host of events throughout the year.

Food festivals with celebrity chefs and a smorgasbord of fine local produce to tuck into take place at Berwick, Alnwick and Tynedale. Discover walking festivals to strike out upon in Haltwhistle, Rothbury and Berwick.

There are events ranging from the downright bizarre, like Allendale’s Tar Bar’l where costumed men celebrate New Year by carrying flaming barrels of tar on their heads; to events to learn new skills, like star gazing into Northumberland’s darkest skies at Kielder Observatory.
