Gold stars by night and day for Beacon Hill Farm

Superb holiday retreat in rural Northumberland now offers new, high-tech star-gazing observatory in addition to luxury spa

New for 2016, Beacon Hill Farm is pleased to announce the addition of its very own purpose-built, family-friendly, night sky observatory for the exclusive use of guests.

The Beacon Hill Observatory is located close to the cottages down a well-lit path and has a sliding roof which leaves the starry night skies wide open above. There is room for all the family as well as additional seating. Sky maps, simple instructions and information boards line the walls. Attached to a central plinth stands the resident, state of the art Beacon Hill computerised telescope - the Celestron CPC 1100. This powerful machine will allow you to see amazing detail on a whole galaxy of stars and planets such as Jupiter or Saturn as well as other deep-sky-objects like nebulae and star clusters

There are two additional telescopes available for guests which are excellent for all ages and experiences. The Sky Watcher Skyliner - 200p Dobsonian Telescope comes highly recommended by astronomers, is quick and easy to use and offers users fantastic views of numerous planets

Beacon Hill also has three Celestron Outland 8 x 25 Compact Waterproof Binoculars and head torches to allow families to enjoy the star-gazing experience together and each house has Astronomy books to suit all ages. Guests book the observatory in advance.
