Beyond our expectations!

Herdwicks, The English Lakes
We booked a last minute one night stay at this hotel and we were pleasantly surprised how good it is! Wark is a small village 12 miles north of Hexham (we were at the Races there) and is in a real P2P area. We were very surprised at the standard of food, it was excellent both in the evening and breakfast. The amuse bouchée soup was yummy! We will definitely return in more clement weather so we can enjoy sitting in the garden. We’ve found another gem!

No stars, but the staff were superstars!

Martine H,
Unfortunately heavy cloud but staff at Battlesteads were the real stars, especially Morag and Denisa, who made us feel so welcome. And Roy who supplied us with many facts. Our daughter is thrilled with her Tektite, and the fact she got to touch some moon!

A really nice hotel. Friendly staff, nice rooms, good quality food and drinks with great service and a cozy bar area. Great for a weekend in Northumberland. We liked the map/walking guide in the room - plenty of countryside on the doorstep and about an hour from the coast. We had a session booked at the hotels observatory for some stargazing - unfortunately it was cloudy but Chris entertained us anyway!

Sublime stay in Wark

YorkshireMo, north yorks
We have been lucky enough to have two short breaks at Battlesteads this year. My husband booked our first stay in February which included the eight course taster menu on the first night. The food was simply sublime with every course meticulously presented by friendly staff who were attentive to our every need. Our stay was so good that we have just repeated the experience and I look forward to returning again and again. We booked our deal through Pets Pyjamas as we have a dog and they provide a selection of boxed treats in the bedroom for your pet. Perfect!

Wonderful time with friends.

Easy to find and park, friendly efficient staff, lovely atmosphere in bar with good ale, terrific food local and grown on site. Such an interesting place so take a tour of the gardens, polytunnels, biomass boiler, solar panel and observatory.
