Ferny Rigg Alpacas



Walk a wonderful Alpaca in the Northumberland National Park. Beautiful countryside within sight of Kielder Dam. Family fun, smiles guaranteed.  

Access information

Walks are not suitable for Wheelchairs, though Little walks for little people route is suitable for large wheeled pushchairs, or wheel chairs. This is on non level grass and weather dependent. Offsite alpaca experiences can also be arrange by prior appointment.

Road directions

From Bellingham, follow the signs for Kielder,

At Lanehead, T junction turn left, following signs for Kielder,

Continue on this road for past Stannersburn and the Pheasant pub,

Take the next right sign posted Falstone.


From Kielder carry on past the Kielder Dam junction

Take the second left after the dam sign posted Falstone




Cross the bridge in to the village, past the Black Cock Inn.

Carry on under the old Railway bridge, turn right.

Approximately 300 yards you will see a turning on your right between the newly built bungalows and the waste bins. There is a small alpaca sign also. 

Turn right on to the old railway line. Follow this old railway line for exactly 1 mile through the gate, (please ensure you close the gate).

Ferny Rigg Alpacas is the first stone house on your right, with a large grey shed.

This is an unmade road, should you have concerns about a low profile car, please park just outside the village before the bridge beside the cemetery, contact us and we will collect you. Please contact us in advance if you require the pick up from the village.

Public transport



it is about 11/2 miles from the bus stop to our location. Bus time tables change for the seasons and are very irregular.

Ticketing and entry prices for Ferny Rigg Alpacas

Prices are £22 for the parent and child under 10 or £22 for each alpaca walked.

Booking is essential, as availability is limited.

Children 10 - 16 must be in the company of a responsible adult.

Children 6 - 10 may walk the alpaca, but must be closely supervised by a dedicated adult.
