Kielder Observatory has expanded to Twice Brewed Inn, bringing unique astronomy experiences to one of Northumberland’s most iconic inns, right next to Hadrian’s Wall and Sycamore Gap. Our expert astronomers host sessions at the Inn’s dedicated planetarium and observatory buildings, giving visitors new ways to experience the Dark Skies of Northumberland.
Two Venues, One Mission
For over 15 years, Kielder Observatory has inspired more than 250,000 visitors with unforgettable nights under the stars in the heart of Kielder Forest. Now, our team also run events at Twice Brewed Inn Observatory — home to a 30-seat planetarium, state-of-the-art telescopes, and the comforts of a welcoming inn with great food, award-winning ales, warm hospitality, and luxury accommodation.
Located within the protected International Dark Sky Park, the venue benefits from minimal light pollution, meaning visitors will have a clear view of the Milky Way arching across the sky and see thousands more stars than can normally be spotted from our towns and cities.
Together, Kielder Observatory and Twice Brewed Inn offer two distinct but complementary experiences, united by a passion for astronomy, science, and creating memories to last a lifetime.
Plan Your Visit
When booking at Twice Brewed Inn, visitors can also reserve accommodation and meals, turning an astronomy experience into a complete getaway of great food, warm hospitality, and comfortable rooms.
Whether it is the wild, forest setting of Kielder Observatory or the historic landscape of Hadrian’s Wall, both venues promise inspiring nights filled with stories, science, and the beauty of the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park.
