Carraw Farm offers luxury self-catering accommodation in a modern and luxurious spacious property – Vesta View and in the converted barn – Shepherds Retreat.
Our two luxury holiday homes are situated quite literally on Hadrian’s Wall! The properties sit within the former Hadrian’s Wall infrastructure, with Vesta View on the road between the wall and vallum ditch and Shepherds Retreat set on the wall foundations. Both properties offer amazing views, which change with the seasons.
Vesta View, named after the Roman goddess of the hearth, home and family is a modern and luxurious spacious property offering spectacular panoramic views of open countryside. The accommodation is over two floors with a flexible layout that suits families, extended families or groups of friends.
There are five well-sized bedrooms, sleeping up to 10 people, which are light, bright and offering unspoilt views of open countryside. The two downstairs rooms have a choice of either a super king double bed or two single beds. The three upstairs bedrooms have king-sized beds. Each bedroom has ensuite shower facilities with a fixed rain head and height adjustable shower head and some with a bath.
The property has been designed to be as accessible and inclusive for all, with two ground-floor en-suite bedrooms; one room is fully accessible with a spacious wet room, the other is suitable for limited mobility visitors.
The lounge and dining area is open plan, with a wood burner in the lounge. The kitchen is spacious and light, fully equipped with an upright fridge, five ring induction hob, two fan-assisted ovens, dishwasher and a microwave.
There is a small utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and upright freezer. There is something to delight everyone in every season when you stay at Vesta View.
Shepherds Retreat, situated on the foundations of Hadrian’s Wall and set in wonderful open countryside provides a welcoming, warm and friendly place to stay, perfect for couples, families or friends. The traditional stone-built property is attached to the 18th Century Farmhouse and was originally a barn. The barn was renovated in 2007 and transformed into the contemporary property you see today, retaining a lot of the original features.
There are two well-sized double-bedded bedrooms, sleeping up to 4 guests, which incorporate some of the original features, such as roof beams and stone walls. Each bedroom has ensuite shower facilities.
The lounge/dining area is light and airy. The kitchen is fully equipped with an upright fridge/freezer, electric double oven, washing machine, dishwasher and a microwave. Shepherds Retreat is a comfortable and cosy cottage at any time of the year.
The holiday accommodation at Carraw Farm is ideally situated for walking the Hadrian’s Wall Path National Trail, Wainwright’s Pennine Journey and cycling Hadrian’s Cycleway or touring the delights of Northumberland and is close to all the major heritage attractions along Hadrian’s Wall including: the Roman Forts at Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolanda and all year round - a star gazing and astronomy heaven!
There is off-street parking and an electric vehicle Type 2 charging point (chargeable). Both properties at Carraw Farm offer a truly luxurious home-from-home feeling, with luxury toiletries and high-quality linen / towels provided; personal and thoughtful touches are everywhere.
