Homecooked, locally sourced food headed by chef and owner Michael. Our AA Rosette restaurant uses ingredients grown from our polytunnel and gardens, along with local suppliers, creating a seasonally changing menu. In our newly refurbished bar find a selection of fantastic local drinks, including guest ales from local microbreweries, and gins from across Northumberland.
Barrasford Arms pub dates back to the 1800’s. Set overlooking Houghton Castle towards the North Tyne it gives a great setting to relax for the evening, whether over a glass of wine in our picturesque garden, or sitting by our roaring log fire in the bar.
Michael and Victoria took over the Barrasford Arms in June 2017 and will make you feel very welcome during your time there. Michael has a wealth of experience as a top chef. From starting out at his local Northumberland pub as a pot wash, to working his way up at restaurants such as Fisherman’s Lodge in Newcastle, and Bouchon in Hexham, before coming the executive head chef at Slaley Hall Hotel, and most recently Malmaison Hotel in Dundee, Michael’s simple, elegant and well cooked food full of flavour will not disappoint.
Set in the heart of Northumberland Barrasford Arms is perfectly located for exploring; finish off your lunch with a lovely walk to the river, or explore Hadrian’s Wall only a few miles away, there are some of the best fishing beats in the country based just off from the pub, Kielder Water and Observatory is just 30 miles away, or great local towns Hexham and Corbridge full of history and boutique shops only 8 miles away, plus many other places to explore such as Wallington Hall and Cragside.
