15 September - 7.30 pm - 9.30pm | 20th October - 7pm - 9.30pm | 17th November - 6pm - 8.30pm
Join Si Rowland in beautiful Cresswell Village under the dark skies of Northumberland to watch for the Aurora.
Solar activity is on the increase leading to more and bigger displays of the Northern Lights and the September equinox usually sees a strong showing.
It´s a new Moon so conditions will be good and as well as looking for the Northern Lights, we will be looking for the Milky Way and the Andromeda Galaxy amongst other celestial beauties, led by Si's laser pointer while keeping an eye out on the horizon for what could be quite a show.
Si will also have a number of telescopes to use to look at things more closely. Bring your binoculars, cameras and smart phones and you might catch a shot of the aurora!
This event is suitable for adults and children over six years old and is perfect for novices. Warm drinks and biscuits are included in the ticket price. There is limited parking at the venue but plenty of free parking is available close by. The hall is wheelchair accessible and there are toilets.
The event will go ahead regardless of the weather and includes an indoor stargazing presentation, meteorites, telescopes etc. Please note the aurora can never be absolutely guaranteed but solar activity is getting stronger all the time and September is usually a good month. This is an outdoor event so remember to dress appropriately.
