Hexham Spook Night, the town's biggest Halloween celebration, returns on a Saturday around Halloween in 2027.

Funfair rides fill Beaumont Street from the afternoon into the evening, and the highlight of the day is the fancy dress parade to the bandstand, followed by costume competitions for every age from under-sixes to adults. There's a pumpkin lantern competition, a prize for the best dressed spooky family group, and dancing at the bandstand into the evening.

Venues across town join in too, with Skeletons in the Abbey at Hexham Abbey, stories and crafts at Hexham Library, and Halloween films at the Forum Cinema for all ages. Most activities are free, the competitions are free to enter, and a few workshops have a small charge or need booking in advance.

The 2027 date and full programme will be announced nearer the time by Hexham Town Council. The town centre gets busy on the day, so the train is the easy option: Hexham station is a short walk from the action.
