The Re-Breathe Holy Island Arts Festival explores creativity, sustainability and community. We will be running various music events, including a live performance by the amazing 'Celtish', art workshops by various talented artists with a re-using and recycling theme, dance workshops, story-telling sessions, poetry sessions and talks on sustainability and the ecology of our beautiful island.
Saturday 26th September
- Revelation Arts free interactive art installation - 'What can I give?' - St Mary's from 12 midday (installation will be up all week).
- Holy Island history archive - The Reading Room - 2pm to 5pm
- Evening concert with 'Celtish' - St Mary's at 7.30pm (includes live art creation by local artist, Scott Brennan) - £15 per person.
Sunday 27th September
- Free exhibition from The Gleaning - St Cuthbert's from 10am
- Harvest Festival Eucharist - With the Bishop of Newcastle, the Right Revd Helen-Ann Hartley - St Mary's at 10.45am
- Harvest Jam-Making Competition - St Mary's from 12 midday to 1.30pm
- Book sculpture and paper engineering exhibition - St Mary's from 12 midday to 1.30pm
- Print workshop - St Mary's from 12 midday to 2.30pm - £2 per person
- Peter Sagar talk and workshop on the environment - St Aidan's (RC) from 3.30pm to 5.30pm - £2 per person
Monday 28th September
- Exhibition tour and talk from The Gleaning - St Cuthbert's from 10am to 12 midday
- 'Dance is for every body' workship with Andy Raine - Holy Island Village Hall from 12.30pm to 2pm - £2 per person
- Revelation arts - a listening event 'The future belongs to those who imagine it today' - Starbank Cottage from 2.30pm to 3.30pm (max. ppl 6)
- Holy Island history archive open afternoon - The Reading Room from 2pm to 5pm
- Carol Wilson botany talk - St Aidan's (RC) from 6pm to 7pm
Tuesday 29th September
- Sketch, stitch, scribe workshop - St Cuthbert's from 10am to 1pm - Tickets are £15 per person
- Revelation arts 'Drawing breath, drawing nature' - Gertrude Jekyll's garden from 1pm to 2pm. Meeting place - St Mary's 12.30pm. Max 8 people. £5 per person.
- Carol Wilson Botany Walk - Meet at St Mary's - 3pm to 4.30pm
Wednesday 30th September
- Carol Wilson 'Botany for beginners' - Marygate House from 10am to 12.30pm - max. 6 ppl - £5 per person.
- Revelation arts 'A listening walk, landscape, soundscape, soulscape' - Starting at the St Cuthbert's Centre's garden - from 11.45am to 1pm - max. 10 ppl - £5 per person.
- 'From the edges of the field, re-telling the story of RUTH the Gleaner' with Andy & Anna Raine - St Cuthbert's from 1.30pm to 3pm.
Thursday 1st October
- Scratch choir with Kit Hobkirk - Rehearson at St Mary's from 10.30am until 12 midday.
- Scatch choir performance - St Mary's from 2.30pm
- Carol Wilson 'Botantical drawing from botany beginners' - Marygate House from 1am to 12.30pm - max. 6 ppl - £5 per person.
- Poetic Apothecary exhibition, workshop & readings - St Cuthbert's - workshop from 1pm to 3.30pm - £2 per person. Exhibition open all day from 10am.
- Nick Lewis and Joe Wood (National Trust) 'Gertrude Jekyll's garden, past to present' - Holy Island Village Hall from 1.30pm to 2.30pm.
- Holy Island history archive open afternoon - The Reading Room from 2pm to 5pm.
Friday 2nd October
- An audience with Kenneth Steven, poetry reading and chat - St Cuthbert's from 11am to 12.30pm - £5 per person.
- Mary Fleeson 'freehand knotwork' workshop - St Cuthbert's from 2 sessions, 2pm to 3pm or 3pm to 4pm. £5 per person.
- Nick Lewis (National Trust) on art inspired by Lindisfarne Castle - Holy Island Village Hall from 1.30pm to 2.30pm
- Sarah Small concert, Viola de Gamba - St Mary's from 3pm to 4.30pm - £5 per person.
- Botanical talk with Carol Wilson - St Cuthbert's from 6pm to 7pm.
Saturday 3rd October
- 'Brothers Gillespie' folk concert - St Cuthbert's from 4pm to 6pm - £15 per person.
- Film night 'Mrs Lowry & Son' - Holy Island Village Hall from 7pm to 8.30pm - £5 suggested donation.
Sunday 4th October
- Closing Festival service - St Mary's from 10.45am - 12 midday.
- Celebration lunch at St Cuthbert's - 1pm to 2pm.
- Shanty Singers - St Cuthbert's from 2pm to 3pm.
- Village Ceildh with Penny Dot band - Holy Island Village Hall from 5.30pm to 7.30pm - £10 per adult.
