Seahouses to Bamburgh Castle route

Walk to Bamburgh Castle
Visit bustling Seahouses harbour, walk one of the most staggering stretches of coastline in the UK, and end it all with a trip to astounding Bamburgh Castle on this short walking route in Northumberland.

The striking stretch of coastline

The Seahouses to Bamburgh beach walk is roughly 3 miles long, predominantly with golden sand underfoot. It begins at Seahouses, where you can park in dedicated car parks along the seafront, at the harbour wall or behind the Tourist Information Centre, heading along the beautiful stretch of Northumberland coastline to Bamburgh, with spectacular views of Bamburgh Castle on the horizon.

Once you set off, admire the coastline and Bamburgh Castle that perches on a rocky plateau ahead. On the approach to the castle, its dramatic presence and sweeping beach are simply breath-taking. Once you arrive, dogs are welcome in the castle grounds, and from here you can admire the enchanting fortresses and some impressive views of the surrounding coastline.

You can also stop for a drink in Bamburgh village, and many dog walkers visit The Copper Kettle where dogs are welcome in the courtyard. Rest your legs and refresh ready for the walk back, or take the Arriva X18 bus back to Seahouses.
