Overview

Kellah Farm cottages provide 2 self-catering cottages on a busy working hill farm. Kellah has been a small hamlet since 1402 and has been farmed by our family for over 150 years.
Kellah is 4 miles from the " Centre of Britain" market town of Haltwhistle.

Both cottages are former miners cottages and we have recently installed a Bio-Mass boiler that provides heating and plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Both cottages have walled gardens.

Staying with us is an ideal base for exploring Hadrian's Wall country and the north and south Tyne Valleys.

The south Tyne trail which follows the partially used railway line passes over Lambley viaduct and is one of many interesting walks which can be taken from Kellah.

Red squirrels are frequent visitors to an oak wood on the farm and children can have hands-on experience of farming life by helping to feed animals and observe the day to day activities on a busy hill farm. Parents can join in to if they wish.

In my opinion, this is possibly the best value B&B I have ever stayed in....

DaveL3108,
If you like being in an elevated, windswept, lonely farmhouse high above Hadrian's Wall, then Kellah Farm is for you. If you like a comfortable bed, a beautifully furnished room with a huge en-suite shower, all meticulously clean, then Kellah Farm is for you. Just to top it all, if you like a huge and well cooked breakfast, fresh milk for your room, friendly and extremely helpful hosts...and at a price which I thought was unbelievably low...then you would be crazy not to stay here if you are visiting Hadrian's Wall.

Select your room carefully.

A lovely place with limited parking. Very popular as it on a walking route. We were in the restored section which has paper thin walls (think bathroom activities) and the doors a tendency to slam and shake the whole room and next doors. However had everything you could need, drinks, snacks lovely ensuite with toiletries etc The older section seemed more substantial but I think were family rooms?. Great breakfast and lovely people willing to impart local knowledge. A huge lounge area with pool table, books and magazines also available to use. Very nice but too noisy for us as it was fully booked when we stayed.

my favorite stay along the PW

Elizabeth N, New York
this was absolutely my favorite stay along the Pennine Way. I can't quite put my finger on what makes it excellent so I'll tell you a little about my experience. It's spotless from the moment you walk in. The host's daughter saw that I was exhausted from the day and offered to have her mom, Leslie, heat up a vegetarian dinner for me. I was ever so grateful for that. Leslie was welcoming, soft spoken, and offered up some nice conversation. The room itself was just the right size for a solo traveler and had enough room to hang up my clothes for the night. Homemade cookies included with the room's tea and coffee station always set me straight, too. The bathroom was in great condition and once again, spotless. The next morning the breakfast was vegetarian at my request and a full English. All together, the experience put me in a great mood the following day. I couldn't ask for more. Thank you! :)

A walkers' dream!

Jane S, Bristol, United Kingdom
Lesley keeps a cracking good B&B. High standards all round and a little taste of the farming life (hard work, long hours!). Thoughtful touches include - endless hot water for tired and muddy walkers and a large well-stocked lounge for wet days when the views are better enjoyed from a warm room with books and games.
