Pleasantly surprised 😮

Hired bikes from the castle and cycled down for lunch, couple of guns to get us started and was pleased to see saffron gin in stock. Wild mushroom in garlic on brioche was the eye opener. Tasty and seasoned, thought I was on a winner here. Sunday lunch for main and I went for turkey and pork mixed, pork was from the loin, so good cut, red hot couldn’t complain. Wife had turkey and stuffing sandwich on brown bread with gravy and commented on being very tasty. I cannot recall sitting in a more scenic beautiful surrounding. To top it off we seen two osprey chicks Bill was penny’s for what we got in comparison. Only negative was the place was a bit greasy, floor slippery underfoot from grease trampled probably from the kitchen and table tops forearms stuck to when leaning on. Hence just the four stars, otherwise would have had a full house

Handy lite bite

Great if you have kids as there is an in-door and outdoor play area. Plenty TVs dotted around if there is anything you are looking to watch. The menu is a little limited but handy for a lite bite.

Standard chain pub food

Great location and good service but this could have been so much better. Large menu obviously taken from the freezer - they could do a similar menu with local ingredients freshly cooked and the people renting lodges on site would probably lap it up

Doog walk

Martin E, Stockton-on-Tees, United Kingdom
During our stay in falstone we had a day out at kielder the touristy bit the bits we normally don't do as I don't like clouds. Anyway before going off on a rant back to the important stuff food and walks. There are lovely walks around kielder for the avid hiker and the few miles we like usually with the dooog. Then back to the boat in over looking the lake perfect for us as dog friendly. Both inside and out. Food wise not the cheapest 10 pound for burger and chips but must say it was one of the nicest burgers I've had tasted home made with all fresh salad a bit like the pictures of how McDonald's is supposed to look but never comes looking like it's picture. This burger did very meaty full of everything and chips very nice as well. Considering the price of a big Mac I suppose the boat inn was much better value And hugh. Well done.

Very expensive poor food

Carole R, Durham, United Kingdom
Have just visited with 3 adults and 3 children.the service was good but the food was poor .very greasy and lacking flavour sadly most of it was left on the plate.probably wouldnt have minded so much if it had been priced to reflect the quality but it was expensive for both food and drinks.def.wont be back.
