Overview

The Joiners Arms is your very own village inn; a haven for lovers of fresh, locally sourced food served up with a contemporary flourish and drinkers of all tastes, from crazy cocktails to comforting real ales. Plus, we're big into families, so kids get to eat, rest and play with everyone else.

The Joiners Arms Restaurant is lively, friendly and a little bit quirky, and the perfect place to hang out when you're not engaged in spectacular coastal adventures or hiding out in your luxe Northumberland boutique bedroom.

We are located in one of the UK’s most beautiful places, in the heart of a National Trust-designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which fuses the best of both worlds – spectacular countryside and a breathtaking coastal location just an hour from the metropolitan hearts of Newcastle to the south and Edinburgh to the north.

Our 5 Gorgeous boutique bedrooms are individually designed to put the luxe into luxury inns, with irresistible charms like four-poster beds, roll top baths and lots of room for love.

We’re only a couple of miles from the spectacular Farne Islands, famed for its bird life and Atlantic grey seals (boat trips from nearby Seahouses are wild and memorable!); Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the first two Harry Potter films; Holy Island, a little gem easily reached across a causeway (just watch the tide...), and some of the best surfing and water sports, golf, field spots, walking and country pursuits you could wish for.

Here at Joiners Arms we are delighted to exclusively announce that we are opening an additional 8 rooms! These semi-self-catering rooms are nestled in the grounds of Newton Hall and are just a stone’s throw away from The Joiners Arms. Each room is individually decorated to match the same high standards of both Newton Hall & the Joiners Arms and are based upon some of the most beautiful beaches around the world. These rooms are available to be booked on selected dates throughout the year.

We hope to welcome you to Northumberland’s first 5* Coaching Inn soon!

Tasty Burger

cheffy5, Yorkshire Dales National Park, United Kingdom
Lovely welcome for us and our dog, after a lovely walk along the nearby beach. The burger was one of the best i have ever eaten, my wife loved the fish and chips she had.

Dog Friendly - Yes; Good Food - No; Good Value - No. Avoid Mondays.

james f, Carlisle, United Kingdom
Stopped by for a weekday lunch en route to our holiday destination. Wished we'd gone elsewhere to be honest. Beer expensive at £3.90 a pint. Small bottle of lemonade £2.85. The Pork Loin was disappointing and despite missing some of the prime ingredients promised on the menu there was no substitute or refund offered - dear at £14.95 for a snack. There was no ham for my wife's Farmer stottie (dry bread bun). Maybe it was because it was Monday lunchtime, but the waiting staff should have been warned by the kitchen so they could advise the customers.

The Joiners Arms replied: james f, Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback on your visit. We check our prices on a regular basis against our local competitors and are very confident in our pricing structure. Taking into account a few places charge £5 per pint I am happy that we offer fantastic value with a great selection. The Lemonade we sell at £2.95 is the Fentimans Victorian Lemonade which uses great botanical's and is a premium product hence the price, we also offer regular lemonade in glass & pint quantities at a price of £2.30 for a glass & £3.30 for a pint. I you feel you have been misled on this please do get in touch with me. Having spoken with our kitchen team and head chef with regards the food experience it is disappointing to see your feedback on the pork and I can assure I will be paying extra attention to this dish over the coming services. There was no reason any of the pork dish should have been missing ingredients as all were fully available for service, this is however a main dish and not part of our snack menu and again I feel our pricing structure on this dish is very competitive. All our bread is delivered fresh daily from Trotters of Seahouses and I see no reason why you would be served a dry bread bun. There was indeed no ham for service on Monday which is why we offered 2 substitutes during service for this. If this was not communicated to you I can only apologise and this is something I will be addressing with the team and manager on shift that day as it is clearly marked on our briefing notes for the day, which we keep on site for at least 1 year. Overall it is obvious you have not had a good experience at all and if you feel you would like to discuss any of the points raised with me please contact me directly (info@joiners-arms.com)and I will be more than happy to spend some time with you. I do appreciate your feedback as I do with all, it is extremely important to me and the rest of the team that we listen to our customers and act upon their opinions. Thank you again james f.

Just wonderful

Charlotte W,
A friendly little pub which has lots of local beers on offer. Good sandwiches and dog friendly! Will be returning and recommending!

The Joiners Arms replied: Charlotte, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit. Great to hear you all had a good time and I'm sure the dog was extra happy with the beaches nearby too. We will be introducing a doggie menu soon which we would appreciate your feedback on next time you are in.

Sunday dinner

Superships1, Chathill, United Kingdom
Came here on a Sunday evening to celebrate and expected it to be quiet, given it was a Sunday in January. As it happens, glad we booked as it was busy. That said, the service was impeccable and it didn’t feel hectic. Food from the Sunday menu was great and decent selection of beer to wash it down. Will definitely be back.

The Joiners Arms replied: Superships1, Thank you for your kind review and indeed taking the time to do so. Great to hear you all had a good visit to see us at the Joiners and that we contributed to your celebrations. Hope to see you all again soon.

Mixed views

Stewart W, Morpeth, United Kingdom
Had a great meal here last year. Returned last week for the offer of 50% off in January. I had the fish and chips again and it was just as delicious as last time. My wife, however, was very disappointed with the pork loin - she thought it was not evenly cooked, the carrots were overdone and the broccoli was very stringy. The friend with us thought his venison sausage casserole was rather dry. So rather mixed feelings - stick with the fish and chips and you won't be disappointed.

The Joiners Arms replied: Stewart, Thank you for returning to see us and taking the time to review your visit. Disappointing to read your review with regards the pork, venison & vegetables. The pork is one of my favourite dishes and I will be going through your feedback with our head chef today as this is not the standard we are looking for. It seems from your review that you did not receive a check back after your food arrived to ensure we had met your expectations and this is something that surprises me and that I shall also be revisiting. It is extremely important to us to ensure we give value for money and quality in every dish and obviously on this occasion we have failed. If you would like to discuss your visit with me further please do not hesitate to contact me on info@joiners-arms.com
