Newbiggin parkrun is a friendly weekly 5km community event that welcomes locals and visitors along the scenic promenade. Open to all abilities, participants can walk, jog, or run the route, or volunteer to help the event run smoothly.
Taking place every Saturday at 9am, the event is free to attend and focuses on enjoyment rather than competition. First-time participants should sign up with parkrun beforehand and bring their personal barcode to receive a recorded time.
There’s no pressure to be quick — the emphasis is on participation, inclusivity and community. Families may also be interested in nearby junior parkrun events on Sundays for children aged 4–14.
