In September 2017, the Cookie Jar was launched in Alnwick, Northumberland - formally the Convent of Mercy for over 120 years. The Cookie Jar stands proudly on the cobbled streets of Bailiffgate, adjacent to Alnwick Castle.
The Bistro takes from “Nature to Plate” to a new level with most of our produce local to the fields and coastline of Northumberland. The chefs take great delight in being creative - using ingredients in season - catering for all dietary requirements.
Sample dishes include warm smoked duck breast, grilled pear, soft cheese and toasted walnuts; Miso Marinated Hake, pak choi, braised lemon rice; Pumpkin Ravioli, charred courgette, crisp shallots and sage creme.
In addition to being awarded the “Best place to stay in the North” by the Sunday Times - the Cookie Jar is extremely proud to have been awarded the “Travellers Choice” award by Trip Advisor for 3 consecutive years rating them in the top 10% of hotels worldwide.
