Return to THE Friendliest Border Hotel in The North

Paul D,
We are losing count of the number of weekend stays we have made here at the Redesdale Arms, buy every one has been a delight. The hotel family room is perfect for two adults and two kids. The rooms are warm (even in the cold winter months up here), clean and well equipped. The hotel and restaurant are run by the friendliest, happiest and most helpful of staff who all make the hotel a real home from home for us - our Grandson in particular. The food in the restaurant is prepared to a high standard and served quickly despite the often busy tables. And for those who stay, dont forget the great full English breakfast in morning - you might want to go easy on the dessert the night before! Everything that you need for a relaxing break is here, whether for an overnight stay or a longer break using the hotel as a hub from which to see the surrounding area. Good family-friendly hotels can be hard to find - Great ones like this are few and far between. Shame we can't keep it a secret!

Over priced.

nijBucks, Bucks
Small tired rooms with ancient radiators. Constant banging noise coming from what I eventually figured out was staff going form the main building to the kitchen and associated doors banging shut. Having stayed in two great hotels in Scotland for less money in the last week I was shocked. Oh yes, - lovely view of the bins and what I can only assume are oil tanks from our room at the rear of the property. You need to be charging £35 for your rooms MAX, especially out of season.

Redesdale Arms replied: Dear Nijbucks, I’m sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us. As you did not book ahead, you were allocated the last available double room when you arrived, which is advertised as a small double. We do have several large rooms, with fantastic views to the front and side of the pub. The banging noise is indeed staff going from the main building to an outside fridge during breakfast – I appreciate if you were having a lie in this would be annoying, and will address this with breakfast staff. I’m not sure why you found our radiators to be so offensive, we have no intention of replacing them because they are extremely efficient despite being 25 years old, nor will we be taking your advice on pricing. Regards Carrol

Star Gazing Weekend

Neenief,
Wonderful B&B in beautiful setting, warm welcome from start to finish. Our room was very spacious and comfortable although the temperature outside was -4 we were never cold and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in away from home. Carol and her team do any excellent job and Richard our astronomer for the weekend was brilliant so informative and down to earth he made star gazing so interesting. Highly recommended
