Excellent stop on the High Road to Scotland

Geoff A, Victoria, Australia
Have stayed here several times on the road to (and from) Scotland. Excellent service. Great rooms, good food and friendly staff. Internet connection via WiFi is excellent in the rooms - it is fast and SECURE, most necessary when travelling in business. The big hotel chains just don't get that! Disabled access to rooms accomplished by chair lift on stairs. Great6 value!

Comfortable and friendly inn

BerkhamstedClaire, Berkhamsted
We had a very enjoyable stay at the Redesdale Arms while visiting the Kielder Forest and Observatory and Hadrian's Wall. Despite being on a main road, the location is peaceful and the view from the front is lovely. The food is fresh and very good. I particularly enjoyed the perfectly cooked fish and vegetables (not overdone!) and the tasty beef, ale and mushroom pie. The staff were friendly and Carrol in particular was so helpful.

A great base for visiting Northumbria

tomreed2018, London, United Kingdom
It's on the dead-straight Roman road to Edinburgh, Dere Street, now the A68, as it goes up the Redesdale valley through the wild bad-lands north of Hadrians Wall not long before crossing the border into Scotland. A romantic, poor and desolate area famed for the lawless local English clans, the Border Reivers and Moss Troopers of the past. The Redesdale Arms is great place of refuge and comfort from which to explore the North East, from Lindisfarne to the Tyne Valley and up to Edinburgh; and everywhere in between.

Perfect hosts and value

Antony G, Moffat, United Kingdom
I was a bit worried when I saw how close the inn was to the road but my fears were groundless. A friendly staff greeted us and the rooms were comfortable and clean. We enjoyed an excellent freshly cooked meal, from a menu that seems to change in part daily at prices that were very competitive. Well done all at Redesdale.

Pies Perfect

Vayikra, Holt, United Kingdom
I had a superb Beef, Ale and Mushroom pie, and my wife had a similarly superb Mushroom and Asparagus pie, served with mixed veg. Very cheerful service and our dog was allowed in th Bar. As good as it gets for English cooking.
