Saturday 29th November 2025 | 10am – 2pm | Blyth Tall Ship Workshop, Quay Road, Blyth
Blyth Tall Ship is thrilled to announce its annual “Deck the Hulls” Christmas Event, a day of festive fun designed to bring the whole community together in the spirit of Christmas.
This year’s event, proudly sponsored by Pharos and the Blyth Rotary Club, with a generous anonymous donation from a true Secret Santa Lover, will take place on Saturday 29th November from 10am to 2pm at the Blyth Tall Ship Workshop. And the best part? Everything is completely free of charge!
A Celebration for Everyone
At Blyth Tall Ship, we believe Christmas should be a time when everyone can come together; no barriers, no costs, just community spirit and festive joy. Blyth is one of the most deprived areas in the UK with poverty ratings higher than the national average. That’s why entry, activities, entertainment, refreshments, and even Santa visits are all free this year, ensuring that every family in Blyth can join in the fun.
Children can enjoy a magical meeting with Santa in his Grotto, take part in free festive crafts such as, writing letters to Santa, and creating Christmas cards for your loved ones, or join in with our Christmas games like the Snowball Toss.
Throughout the day there’ll be live storytelling sessions, sea shanty performances, and plenty of chances to take an “Elfie” at our photo corner. Visitors can also explore our heritage workshop, meet volunteers, and discover how Blyth Tall Ship continues to preserve the town’s proud maritime past while creating opportunities for the future.
And because it wouldn’t be Christmas without a little treat, we’ll be serving free festive refreshments — including warming hot chocolate and mince pies — to spread Christmas cheer to all who attend.
Bringing the Community Together
CEO Siobhan Sargeant said:
“Deck the Hulls is all about giving something back to our wonderful community. Blyth Tall Ship has always been at the heart of bringing people together through heritage, learning, and volunteering and this event is a joyful way to celebrate that. Thanks to the incredible support from Pharos, Blyth Rotary Club, and our mysterious Secret Santa Lover, we’re proud to make this a completely free day for local families to enjoy.”
Proudly Supported by Local Partners
The event has been made possible through the generosity of local supporters including Pharos and the Blyth Rotary Club, alongside kind contributions from volunteers, local businesses, and a heartfelt anonymous gift from a Secret Santa Lover who wanted to make sure everyone could share in the season’s joy. Margaret Rose events have kindly provided a charity rate for decorations.
