Turnbull’s Pork Pie Festival Returns to Alnwick with 10 Days of Delicious Celebrations in aid of Hospice Care North Northumberland.
Turnbull’s, the recent recipient of ‘Best Butchers is North of England’ has launched its highly anticipated Pork Pie Festival, a 10-day celebration of the region’s favourite handmade pies. Running from August 21st to August 31st, the festival invites locals and visitors alike to enjoy unique flavours, special offers, and a charitable cause all wrapped in golden pastry.
This year’s festival showcases eight varieties of Turnbull’s renowned pork pies, including:
• Turnbull’s Classic Pork Pie
• Pork & Apple
• Pork, Black Pudding & Stilton
• Foraged Pork Pie (Bramble & Nettle Cheese)
• Caramelised Onion
• Chorizo
• Cranberry
• Hog Roast
What’s On at the Festival:
• Daily Tastings – Customers can sample the different pies at Turnbull’s deli counter, discovering both timeless classics and inventive new flavours.
• Pork Pie Passport – Shoppers collect a stamp for each pie they purchase. Completing all eight earns entry into a prize draw for a £50 Turnbull’s Gift Voucher.
• Pork Pie Six Pack – A special offer allowing pie-lovers to pick any six pies for just £12.95 (excluding Classic & Caramelised Onion).
Charity Contribution – For every pork pie sold, 10p will be donated to HospiceCare North Northumberland, the region’s palliative care hospice.
Eating Pies, Supporting Lives
This year’s Pork Pie Festival isn’t just about great food; it’s about giving back. Turnbull’s donation of 10p from every pie sold will go directly to HospiceCare North Northumberland, a vital local charity providing free, specialist palliative care and support to patients and their families across Alnwick, Berwick, and the surrounding rural areas.
Last year alone, HospiceCare North Northumberland supported hundreds of families, offering hospice-at-home nursing, bereavement services, and respite care. With demand for services continuing to grow, every pork pie purchased at the festival will make a difference to local people facing some of life’s toughest challenges.
“We’re proud that our Pork Pie Festival can play a role in supporting such an important local charity,” said Matthrew Slack, Sales & Marketing Manager from Turnbull’s. “It means our customers can enjoy our pies knowing they’re also helping to fund essential care for families right here in Northumberland.”
Turnbull’s Pork Pie Festival has become a firm fixture on the foodie calendar, generating buzz in previous years with unique creations such as the “Britain’s Most Expensive Pork Pie”, crafted with black truffle, beluga caviar, and 24-carat edible gold. This year continues that tradition of quality, creativity, and community spirit.
