My husband and I began livestock farming in 2024 with the support of our family. After our first year of farming, we decided we wanted to take the next step and bring our produce directly to the public. When the butcher’s shop in Seahouses became available, we jumped at the opportunity. It felt like the perfect chance to connect our farming background with the local community and provide high quality meat with full traceability.
Today, the shop is run by myself alongside our 20 year old butcher Harvey and our catering assistant Shona. Together we operate the shop six days a week, proudly selling British and locally sourced produce. Meanwhile, my husband continues to run the farm behind the scenes, managing the livestock and day to day farm work.
As our own livestock continues to grow and develop in the fields, we have also expanded our farming operation and now rear free range pigs as well. Our long term aim is to supply more and more of our own produce directly into the shop, creating a true farm to counter model.
In the meantime, we work closely with local farming families, sourcing meat from farms located as close as 0.9 miles from our own shop. Supporting neighbouring farmers is extremely important to us, and we are proud to showcase the quality of livestock being produced right here in Northumberland. I will attach a photo below showing this week’s locally sourced produce.
Alongside our meat counter, we have also expanded the shop to include a wide range of locally sourced products from food producers across Northumberland. Our aim is to create a space that champions regional food, supports small producers, and offers customers the opportunity to buy truly local.
