Get into the swing of things
Tee off with breathtaking views of the Northumberland coast or rural countryside scenes at golf courses across the region. Why not spend an afternoon at one of our mini and crazy golf courses with the family? Northumberland has true links challenges, nine and eighteen-hole courses, and courses good enough to have hosted the British Masters, an event with deep roots in the region's sporting history.
Coastal and links golf courses
Our striking coastal courses are often just yards from the beaches that make Northumberland famous. Bamburgh Castle Golf Club and Alnmouth Golf Club sit right on the coast, while Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course, a classic 18-hole seaside links course founded in 1900 and designed by James Braid, sits beside Embleton Bay and Dunstanburgh Castle itself. Further up the coast you'll find Goswick Golf Club near Berwick-upon-Tweed, Seahouses Golf Club, Magdalene Fields Golf Club, Newbiggin Golf Club and Blyth Golf Club, each offering their own take on true links golf.
Championship and countryside golf courses
Both the European and Senior golf tours hold regular events in Northumberland. Head inland and you'll find championship courses at Matfen Hall, Slaley Hall, and Burgham Park, home of the PGA North Region Championship, as well as Linden Hall and family favourite N1 Golf. Elsewhere across the county, golfers can also play at Morpeth Golf Club, Ponteland Golf Club, Arcot Hall Golf Club, Close House, Prudhoe Golf Club, Bedlingtonshire Golf Club, Tynedale Golf Club, Hexham Golf Club, Alnwick Castle Golf Club, Bellingham Golf Club, Rothbury Golf Club, The Northumberland Golf Club and Wooler Golf Club. Tucked away in the picturesque North Pennines National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) is Allendale Golf Club.
