Northumberland Cycle Hubs

Cycle hubs in Northumberland
Cycling for all ages and abilities

Go cycling in the beautiful county of Northumberland. Now the county has two cycle hubs, located in Haltwhistle and Wooler. Cycle hubs are locations which are cyclist-friendly and offer all of the facilities and services cyclists may require – from hire & repairs, to routes & trails.

There are 14 routes in total – 7 around each of the two towns - ranging in length from 7 to 44 miles. Most are designed to be ‘family friendly’ and are on quiet country lanes, though there are also a couple of tougher mountain-biking options. In all cases they include a mix of visitor attractions, refreshment stops and beautiful scenery.

Haltwhistle

Seven rides through the heart of Hadrian's Wall Country

From a base at Haltwhistle some of the most wonderful landscapes of northern England are open to exploration. The seven routes cross varied countryside and are free of heavy traffic, giving delightful rides between pleasant places to visit, rest and eat. The Newcastle-Carlisle railway line runs through the area and offers ‘hop-on hop-off’ options for some routes, allowing you to explore further afield – and to save your legs!

Wooler

Cycle through 8,000 years of history within beautiful Glendale.

The seven routes take you from heather moorland punctuated by soaring rocky tors to fertile agricultural plains and sweeping coastal views, through pretty villages and past isolated farmsteads whose sturdy walls seem to hunker down against the keen breezes from the Cheviot Hills. Travelling on two wheels is the ideal way to ‘feel’ this countryside rather than just see it, and the routes are designed to ensure a truly exhilarating and inspiring break.
