Walk-Inn style with The Lindisfarne Inn

Easter is a special time for us here at The Lindisfarne Inn, thanks to our fab location as the nearest mainland inn to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.

The island is known for being the ‘Cradle of Christianity’, so Easter is a time when pilgrims famously retrace the footsteps of old pilgrimage paths across the causeway sands to the island.

The sight of today’s Northern Cross pilgrims with cross aloft, on their slow journey to Lindisfarne, is a poignant one – and we are always glad to welcome them in and provide them with refreshment.

A former coaching inn, welcoming guests and providing excellent hospitality is in our nature, especially for those arriving on foot or by bike – whether it is modern day pilgrims like those carrying their cross to Holy Island, or families and friends striking out to enjoy the incredible scenery around us on foot or by pedal.

It’s one of the reasons we took silver in the hotly contested 2016 North East England Tourism Awards Pub of the Year category… Muddy boots, clothes and paws don’t bother us!

We have the newest Northumberland mountain bike route – The Sandstone Way - passing right by our doorstep, as well as the nearby walking routes The St Oswald’s Way and The St Cuthbert’s Way, plus we’re open all day, every day – handy if you’re waiting for the tide to turn to cross to the Island.

Last year we put in fantastic new facilities to make our cycling and walking customers feel more welcome and to make their stay easier, including new secure cycle storage facilities, bike repair stand – which anyone passing is welcome to use – wash down areas and our staff are trained and knowledgeable about local routes, what to see along the way and are always happy to share insider tips and know-how.

But this year we’ve gone the extra mile by pairing up with a brilliant local self-guided walk publisher Walking-books.com to launch our new Walk-Inn breaks to help you really feel the earth beneath your feet – and find out more about the local area we love.

So just how have we gone the extra step? Walk-Inn breaks come with easy-to-follow, 20 self-guided walks, a hearty, two-course dinner from our new Spring menu for you to walk off, plus a comfy room to bed down in and, of course, a full English breakfast to fuel you up for the day ahead. We even make up a picnic for you to take out with you!

It doesn’t matter if you’re a relaxed rambler or a serious yomper – our Walk Inn breaks are great whatever your level.

And with prices starting from less than £90 (based on two people sharing) they’re a great value way of enjoying a break away in Northumberland that’s just a bit different. Have a look on our website or give us a call 01289 381 223 to find out more.

Happy Easter everyone!
