Amazing week end in the Bothy

Vanessa B, Edinburgh, United Kingdom
The location is amazing with a short walk to the beach. Holy Island and Bamburgh castle were close enough to get to for a wonder. Will be returning. The garden was secure to the front for our dogs and the back had a secure shared garden. We had good neighbours who also had dogs and they would have a run around together.

Camping

OntotheFuture, Eden, Australia
It's a well managed site. Quite good washing and showering facilities. Nice grass patch with space. Quite. Dog friendly. Laundry facilities. Simple check in. £20.0 per night for a single tent is too expensive.

Lovely site but needs some small improvements

kinghorn600, Penrith, United Kingdom
Stayed for 3 nights in a touring van, great experience in the main, staff not very friendly but not too much of an issue. The touring pitches are of a good size, most have hedges to give them a real private feel. It has to be understood that it is attached to a working farm and there can be some noise, not off putting for us, there are a lot signs with 'Rules' which are a bit over the top, but again nothing that would put us off returning. The main thing lacking is the facilities, not enough showers, and the ones they have a very cramped, also have fixed heads which some people hate, they badly need updating, but to have a site of this size with one chemical disposal outlet, and only one grey water disposal ( and they are at opposite sides of the site) is not acceptable in this day and age. We will return to the area in a flash, but to the owners of the site please pay heed, other sites have better facilities and that is very important to us as paying guests.

Lovely campsite in a beautiful location

Emily J,
We spent two nights camping at Springhill farm at the beginning of June and had a great time. The site is in a beautiful location; we had a clear view of both Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands from the camping field. It's a well presented site, with both hardstanding pitches for caravans and grass pitches for tents. The tent pitches even had electricity which isn't something you often get when camping. There are also holiday cottages and wigwams available which would make it an ideal location for an extended family reunion. The toilets and showers were maybe a little bit tired but they were very clean (mopped & cleaned daily, even though the site was very quiet when we were there) and warm which is nice when popping to the toilet in the midde of the night! The showers were lovely and hot with great water pressure. Dishwashing facilities were also good and a freezer was provided for guests' use. There were only two sinks though so during peak times it might mean queuing to get your dishes done. We rented a fire pit which was a lovely addition and meant we could sit out and enjoy the evenings without freezing! Locally there are loads of walks, castles and other tourist attractions. As we were only there a couple of nights we didn't get to see a lot but it was a lovely introduction to an area of the country we don't really know that well, despite only living a couple of hours away in Scotland. Overall the very minor downsides are vastly outweighed by the positives and we'd definitely return to Springhill Farm.

Avoid if you want peace

Katie T, Kirkby Stephen, United Kingdom
There are good thing about this site; location and pitch size. Unfortunately there are too many downsides to rate this site any higher. The toilets are outdated, although cleanish they really need updating. There are rules everywhere but you can laugh at these because they are not upheld. Dogs roaming off leads straight past reception for one! Alcohol fuelled screaming and shouting coming from The Lookout and one of the Wigwams plus the associated noise of the accompanying children... obviously not the parents problem. No, not during the day. It's now 10.30pm and although the RULES say minimum noise after 10pm the rules obviously don't apply. Children are still out playing on the playground, despite RULES saying that children will be removed after 9pm. Killjoy you might say. Tough, it's MY break too and so if you have rules on a campsite so EVERYONE can enjoy then enforce them. If you cannot be bothered then have the guts to say that this campsite allows alcohol fuelled screaming and late night partying. If you like to sit and read a book or have a peaceful time away then avoid this place.
