The Joiners Arms is your very own village inn; a haven for lovers of fresh, locally sourced food served up with a contemporary flourish and drinkers of all tastes, from crazy cocktails to comforting real ales. Plus, we're big into families, so kids get to eat, rest and play with everyone else.
The Joiners Arms Restaurant is lively, friendly and a little bit quirky, and the perfect place to hang out when you're not engaged in spectacular coastal adventures or hiding out in your luxe Northumberland boutique bedroom.
We are located in one of the UK’s most beautiful places, in the heart of a National Trust-designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) which fuses the best of both worlds – spectacular countryside and a breathtaking coastal location just an hour from the metropolitan hearts of Newcastle to the south and Edinburgh to the north.
Our 5 Gorgeous boutique bedrooms are individually designed to put the luxe into luxury inns, with irresistible charms like four-poster beds, roll top baths and lots of room for love.
We’re only a couple of miles from the spectacular Farne Islands, famed for its bird life and Atlantic grey seals (boat trips from nearby Seahouses are wild and memorable!); Alnwick Castle and Gardens, home of the first two Harry Potter films; Holy Island, a little gem easily reached across a causeway (just watch the tide...), and some of the best surfing and water sports, golf, field spots, walking and country pursuits you could wish for.
We hope to welcome you to Northumberland’s most luxury Inn soon.

Lovely pub for after the beach - and gluten free!
Visited The Joiners Arms after a walk from Embleton to Newton-by-the-sea with our golden retriever Loki. Enjoyed lovely sandwiches (cheese & pickle on gluten free bread for me!) with cold pints. Loki enjoyed his complimentary welcome pack - a fresh bowl of water, some treats and a cuddle from the staff! Friendly, welcoming and high quality.

Not what I wanted to put because we had read the reviews and it sound really good, unfortunately we had to wait 10 mins while the barmen mixed cocktails and no one else served but when we sat and ordered they came back twice and said they had run out of certain main courses. So we changed 3 of the mains (all different) the food that came was cooked well but then two of us did have to opt for fish and chips!! Overall a bit disappointing but may have caught it on a bad day? Also thought it was slightly over priced for what was on offer. Sorry
Great Sunday Roast
Alfred S, Whitehaven, United Kingdom
We booked in advance which was just as well at it was packed on a very sunny Sunday. We had the smoked salmon starter served with whole capers and the roast lamb, all the trimings including the ubiquitous yorkshire pudding. All the food was very good and the associated vegtables were simply done and complemented the meal. The red cabbage went surpisingly well with lamb. The service was efficient and friendly despite being so busy. We didn't have our dogs with us but it is very dog friendly. The food was also good value and we intend to go back for an evening meal. The only negative was that the front door was wide open the whole time and the cool south easterly breeze came straight in and made the place rather cold.

All meals we had were exceptional including butternut squash soup, kettle ham and pease pudding sandwich, burger and caramelised apple and pear crumble with vanilla custard. My son claimed it was the best burger he has ever had, and he has high international standards including comparison to New York. 3 ladies at the table next to ours shared 2 fish and chips and they still struggled to eat it - huge fish! The venue was excellent and the staff gave outstanding customer service. All I can say is - try it for yourself!
Excellent fish in dog friendly pub

The food was very good and, as the menu says, the cod was huge! It was also very well cooked with light batter and plenty of chips, which were a little disappointing - nt as crisp as I would have expected. We had requested a dog friendly table as they have an area set aside which is for people with dogs. The tables in this area aren’t as nice as the rest of the restaurant. We checked in the morning whether we had been allocated one of these tables and were told that we had not so we left the dog behind. Then found when we arrived that we had been allocated a table in the dog friendly area. Thanks for trying but it would have been useful if we had known when we checked or were told when you changed our table allocation as you did have our contact details.
