Kielder waterside landal lodges

Andrew F,
Lodges and entertainment staff first class. We recommend you avoid the onsite cafe, food is average at best, we think it is disgusting. The shop is stock with poor food choices. Expensive tacky gifts. All shop products from a long shelf life range instead of healthy foods. Brilliant for an active holiday but take your own FOODS

Fantastic short break

oldash, Yorkshire, England
We visited Kielder Waterside in may for a three night break with our two Springer Spaniels. The check in was easy and very friendly and we were pleasantly surprised when we opened the door of our two bedroom Lodge. It was spotlessly clean and smelled lovely and the whole interior was very modern and new. The equipment in the kitchen was all brand new and the welcome basket was another lovely touch. Bedding was excellent quality and the beds were comfortable. Our lodge had a brilliant balcony view of the lake and the various birds that came and helped us eat our breakfast toast were another added bonus. Our two Springers Mick and Smudge are trained gundogs so were able to ignore the dozens of virtually tame wild rabbits hopping around the Lodge, but it was amusing watching the dogs resisting the temptation of a chase. Despite the showery weather we had a couple of wonderful walks along the lake and over the dam, lots of deer and songbirds and easy walking pathways. The dogs swam more than they walked and thoroughly enjoyed it. We ate twice in the pub/restaurant on site and the food and prices were ok. Bonus was the real ale and they also do pizza takeaway. All in all an excellent short break and well worth the long drive from South Yorkshire. Its just a shame the clouds didn't clear and give us a view of the clear starry skies. We will definitely return

Weekend Break.

judy r,
Went away in a group of 4 & stayed in the McArdle lodge which was lovely. I am severely physically disabled so needed to use the overhead hoist in the main bedroom. The bed was very low so made it difficult for my carers to dress and manoeuvre me. A higher single bed or ideally a profile bed would be much more helpful. There was a shower chair on request which was good. The hot tub was great for my friends but unfortunately I was unable to use it as there is not a hoist over it which would have been nice. Apart from that the lodge was very clean & well equipped & a good time was had by all.

Fantastic place for a relaxed visit.

I will definitely echo the 5-star points of earlier posts and add a few too. We came with 2 young kids and a dog and were welcomed warmly by the staff from the outset. Points: Lodges are comfortable, warm and spacious with the usual blunts knifes but we remembered a sharpener! Boat inn has great food at good prices and the staff can’t do enough for you. Stuff for the kids to do, inside and out and a great kids menu. Reception was, yet again, amazingly friendly and helpful. It has a good gym and pool/steam room that you can book easily for 1 hour slots to stop overcrowding. Shop. Small but with essentials that didn’t cost the earth. Note that Tesco deliver to your lodge and we got ours after we arrived. Cycling. Our kids are 5/7 and some of the south side is a little too hilly. The north-side of the lake was more forgiving as we searched for the art installations. Activities locally. The website covers it well but if you need the availability of Centre parcs, it maybe not for you. Our kids loved it. In short, definitely coming back.

Great stay

GaryB-Dalton, Thirsk, United Kingdom
Rented a lodge with a hot tub for a few days at Easter. The lodges are well equipped with almost everything you need down to dishwasher and washing machines. Went for a lodge with no wi-fi but phone signal good. We all loved the hot tub, take plastic glasses for your drinks. Plenty to do on site, played craft golf, used the games room, shop and pub. Saw a red squirrel at the hide, plenty of other wildlife with rabbits around all day and deer nearby. Also had a visit to the observatory which would have been better if not cloudy but still interesting. Would definitely recommend.
