Truly Awful Food

LincsRaider, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
We called in for a meal tonight as we’ve been before we thought it would be ok. Well where do I start ..... I had what was called a Lamb Sish Kebab which was a insult the title, What I got was 7 pieces apparently one and half inches long of spicy lamb meat which clearly came out of a packet. Served with awful dry half cooked oven chips and a pita bread that had clearly not seen a grill. A small amount of iceberg lettuce too much onion and inedible thick slices of red cabbage. On the menu it said served with garlic sauce there wasn’t any at all and chips served in a bowl they were on the plate. I think the chef here needs to go back to catering college to learn how to cook this as is should be or sacked for cooking a meal that was clearly against the trades description act. My wife had fish and chips, Again the chips were awful not cooked through and barely warm, Her fish was drowning in oil and the mushy peas were dry. Several other tables were also complaining about there meals tonight but the staff who were few and far between just didn’t care a jot. Be very careful about eating at this place you have been warned.

Morning Visit

bobcoffer, Chester-le-Street, United Kingdom
Called in after walk around harbour area. We both fancied a nice hot drink only to be told the machine was broken and no hot drinks were available. What has happened to the old way of making a drink, I.e. using a kettle in the kitchen. Decided to have soft drinks instead. Price was higher than other places in the area, as it appears you are paying for location and not quality. Did not eat here.

Disappointed with Room for Price

Curlew29, Bolton, United Kingdom
We paid £170 per night for a superior double room with a sea view. The room was average size and the sea view was obscured by 50% because of an extension to the adjoining room and some sea was visible but across a large balcony and through the safety rails. There was more of a pub atmosphere as the bar and restaurant are open to the public and you cannot book a table. We found the staff friendly enough and helpful. The menu was rather limited for what we were paying and the quality of the food was just about OK. Breakfast was self service and understaffed. Parking on the premises is a nightmare as there is no control who can park. We have rated the hotel 4 stars bearing in mind its location and the overall experience. However, we did not feel we had received value for the money. TIP - double check when booking exactly what you are paying for!!

Location, location, location - Shame about the bar staff

Mummysmith,
Stayed for 2 nights whilst at an event. Rooms very clean, shower great, had a lovely room facing the beer garden and sea. Agreed with a couple of other reviews rooms very warm and no way to cool them as patio doors needed to be closed but not so much of an issue, could happen anywhere Price was reasonable but from the check in realised this is where the "service" element might fall down. 20 mins to get served at the bar, 2 others in front of us and whilst one barmaid grafted on the 2nd was in the process of changing the barrel, gave up after 15 mins only to tell the gentleman she was serving beer was off and she could have black sheep or black sheep no wonder he was a little taken aback by a fairly bad attitude. Same lady checked us in disinterested, no info on where the room was or breakfast details. Food was fine - good portions, not too expensive all was good Breafast was good - inn was fully booked but breakfast not too busy and qulity of ingredients great. Slightly annoying note not to tamper with the toaster setting so you can only have warm bread or cremated toast Bar staff on saturday night again dissinterested and fairly rude which takes a shine off things All in all a good place to stay, food and room quality are good and I'd go back without a doubt but the attitude of more few members of staff let the inn down.

Worst meal ever

Steven T,
We went in for a meal there was 22 off us . We understand this can sometimes be hard to accommodate. The staff seated us next to each other which was good . That’s where all positives end . The food is extremely over priced and some off it was border line inedible . . The sauce on my pork burger was curdled the chips were re heated and my salad was a lump off lettuce . I sent it straight back and there was no apology or no offer off another meal or anything . My girlfriends tikka masala was like a microwave meal from Tesco which cost £13 . When I complained to the waitress that the kids couldn’t cut the pastry on the steak pie she tutted and walked away . When I spoke to Simon the manger he told me the chips were not re heated and that was basically it . We were handed another kids portion of steak pie in a plastic tub that was a used tub with a Friday sticker on it like he was to take it away and eat it outside . Views of the harbour were lovely and that’s it . Won’t be back .
