BHS Durham and The Northern Horse will bring to life the history of horses at war through live re-enactment and Skill at Arms displays, from Roman battles to Civil wars. Riding in full armour and carrying weapons specific to each battle, there will be a chance to talk to the riders, meet the horses, try on some of the armour and check out the weapons.
The event is taking place by kind permission of English Heritage. £10 per adult, Children 16 years and under go free when they are accompanied by a full paying adult. The price of admission also includes entry to the stunning Belsay Castle and gardens.
Please note there is a 10 – 15-minute walk from the car park to the courtyard, which takes in the castle grounds. Limited disable parking is available. Please contact [email protected] to discuss disabled access.
The cafe will be open throughout the event, where you can purchase refreshments.
