Something unusual is coming to Berwick and Spittal this May.
The Visitors is an unexpected new outdoor performance by Lewis Hetherington, that will transform familiar streets and spaces into something playful, surprising and thought-provoking. Taking place in Berwick Town Centre on Saturday 30 May and Spittal Promenade on Sunday 31 May, this free live event invites people of all ages to stop, look again and experience the town in a completely different way.
Inspired by Berwick’s landscape, coastline and the waters that surround it, The Visitors explores the idea of what might be watching us from the river, the sea and the spaces we pass through every day. Expect a mysterious procession, striking visuals and unexpected moments appearing in public spaces throughout the afternoon from 12pm both days.
Created with local schools, community groups and young people from across Berwick, Spittal and Tweedmouth, the performance has been shaped by the people and stories of the area, making it a truly local experience.
Known for creating imaginative performances that blend humour, spectacle and participation, Lewis Hetherington brings communities together through shared experiences that are both entertaining and reflective. Whether you stumble across The Visitors by chance or come along especially to see it, this is a unique opportunity to experience Berwick and Spittal in a whole new light.
Free to attend — just turn up and join the experience.
