The Historic port of Amble is situated on the estuary of the river Coquet, with Coquet Island just offshore, which is where Puffin Cruises sail to see the Puffins, Rosette Terns and resident seals.
The views from the harbour and quayside up the estuary towards the impressive Warkworth castle, and down the harbour and out to sea are spectacular.
We have a fabulous new development on the harbour, Amble Harbour Village, with 15x Retail Pods and a Seafood Centre. The town benefits from a wide variety of independent shops, restaurants and cafes, not to mention the fish and chip shops.
There is a busy Sunday Market, held all year round on the harbour, next to the Harbour Village.
Amble Tourist Information Centre is located in the centre of the town in the town square, it is a local attraction and visitor service offering information on accommodation, events, attractions, days out, walks, cycle rides, and local services. We have a wide range of gifts, maps and local produce to take home. Times for the Coquet Island Boat Trips are available, along with information relating to crossing the Holy Island Causeway. Relevant information also includes the weather forecast, shipping conditions, and high and low tide times for the coast. Staff members are local, experienced and trained in hospitality and customer service. The building itself has won awards for design and practicality for intended use. The entire TIC is wheelchair accessible and an induction loop is installed. Large print literature is available on request.
