A HOME FROM HOME

Geoff G, Keighley, United Kingdom
A truly delightful cottage well appointed and situated. We have stayed at this cottage many times over the last twenty years and the welcome from Sally and Robert is as warm now as the first time we stayed. The cottage is situated in the most beautiful countryside, and the lawn viewed from the cottage window is a bird spotters paradise - star turn being the family of greater spotted woodpeckers which make many daily visits to the food tables. There are so many places to visit lots of them well within an hours drive.

Fantastic location for a family holiday

Kathrin H, Cambridge, United Kingdom
This cottage couldn't be better situated. The location combines a rural idyll - panoramic countryside views that include a picturesque ruined castle - with easy accessibility. You're 10 minutes away from Alnwick, there is plenty of hill walking on your doorstep, and fantastic stretches of sandy beaches are less than an hour's drive away. The nly reason the cottage didn't get an "excellent" rating is that the interior isn't anything special. It is all perfectly comfortable but there's a vague sense that the decorating could be spruced up a little. But really, overall this was a great base for a family holiday, with a very friendly welcome from the owners.

Country Cottage

ashcmb, Manchester, United Kingdom
We can really recommend a stay at Lumbylaw Cottages, the cottage we stayed in (Garden Cottage ) is very comfortable, well laid out, fantastic views over the countryside, we enjoyed watching all the birds that came to feed from the seed containers set out in the garden, the position of the Cottages is fine for visiting all that Northumberland has to offer.

Garden cottage

lizC265VI, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
The cottage was clean and comfortable with everything needed for a holiday, even a duvet with a lower tog rating in case we were too hot! The views from the windows were beautiful. There were cows grazing outside the bedroom and dining area windows. The hosts welcomed us on arrival, showing us around the cottage and answering any questions. We had an enjoyable and relaxing week.

Idyllic setting

Barry F, Norwich, United Kingdom
The farm has its own Castle, disused railway viaduct, beautiful cattle, hares and good birdlife. It is situated midway between Rothbury & Alnwick, both of which have pubs, shops & attractions. The B6341 is narrow, undulating & very fast for some local drivers. The cottage is clean, well appointed & it would merit 5 stars if it had a wood-burning stove.
