What an experience but very well handled.

Called in today for a pint of top class real ale to be met by two women with 10 out of control children, 4 of which were trying to destroy the pool table which the parents totally ignored. Thankfully they started getting ready to leave but the screaming became so bad the Hotel owner asked them if they could reduce the noise because it was concerning the customers and residents, this was met with a negative response indicating these people had been in this situation many times. The staff handled the situation wonderfully and the owners were so professional. Hope we don't meet these families again and will give Beadnell Towers the 5 stars they deserve.

A pleasant family dinner saved from an over-amplified rock group!

On a weekend trip to see the family, I was very keen to join them for dinner at the Beadnell Towers Hotel, as we have had some good food there before. We ordered a table for between six and ten people, as we were not sure of how many family members would attend, and the management was very flexible and not dismissive at all when only five of us showed up! Unfortunately the tables which had been set for us were very close to a local rock band which had been booked for the Saturday night punters and, since we wished to hear ourselves speak, my niece arranged for us to have dinner in the quieter lounge area. The staff were most accommodating and re-set our table in the lounge where we ordered a bottle of white wine, a lager and a glass of cold water! There was a wide choice of main dishes (understandably fish-orientated) and we chose Thai fish curry, cod, scampi, steak pie and chicken covered in melted cheese. These dishes were accompanied by tasty chips and green vegetables. We were very satisfied with our meals, as could be seen by the clean plates which were left at the end. The portions were so generous that we had no room for a tempting dessert! This was a very good experience, but it is certainly wise to book on a Saturday night!

You have to over look the outside dated appearance and venture inside to see the mix of Blackamoor statues, leftover Christmas decorations and Egyption artefacts! We had our dogs with us on both occasions and mixed in with locals and other dog lovers in the bar. What a surprise and a gem this place is, local food and produce was fab and the bar was a dream! There were kids playing at the pool table, locals at the bar celebrating a birthday and tourists all mingled together. Lovely place with individuality! So much better than The Craster Arms round the corner with there churned out food!

Getting past it's best

We have stayed at Beadnell Towers twice now and eaten there many times over the years and while the food Is great value and really good quality - including the sea trout last week - I can't say we are over-impressed with the bedrooms. The latest bedroom, which had stunning views of the Cheviots, had an unpleasant musty smell, despite having opening windows on two sides. The other time we stayed we were in a quite cramped family room. These were both top floor rooms, presumably OK for servants! I don't think we will stay again but we would certainly eat there.

Food was good but the basics let them down!

Busy little local pub/hotel. Staying in the area on holiday and our accommodation hosts recommended Beadnell towers to us as "The Best Pub Food you have ever had!" So we decided to go last night for Dinner. The menu has a wide range of choices including plenty of fish and seafood, They offer half portions at a set price, as well as having a separate children's menu. The restaurant area had quite a strange, almost quirky look to it with lots of ornamental features etc. We sat at a table in the corner at the front of the building. As this is holiday season, almost all the other tables were reserved. We were very pleasantly surprised by the portion size of a "half portion of scampi and chips" which included 8 scampi and a basket of chips. I also enjoyed a nice seafood chowder which had some lovely chunks of fresh fish in. However the one thing that really let the meal down was the bread rolls that accompanied the chowder. Although advertised as "crusty" these were actually very stale! When first cutting them, they felt hard, but we thought little of it until trying to eat it. The bread was solid and dry, and it would be my opinion that the rolls had been left out in the air for at least a couple of days. The seafood Chowder had plenty of extra sauce lying in the bowl at the bottom and it would have been lovely to dip fresh bread into the sauce as it was so delicious, but such a simple thing really let the meal down. Unfortunately, I would not rush to return to Beadnell Towers again and I would certainly disagree with the "Best Pub Food Ever" Rating.
