Kidlandlee, Harbottle, Morpeth, Northumberland, NE65 7DA

Kidlandlee is an award winning off-grid experience without compromising on luxury. Sustainable Tourism and our commitment to improving/lowering our environmental impact on what is one of the most beautiful hamlets nestled deep in the heart of Northumberland’s National Park, will always be at the heart of what we do.

Our cottages are powered by solar trackers and wind turbines whilst water is pumped from two bore holes which are filtered on site. Bio-waste systems naturally treat and dispose of wastewater so you really can feel that your stay here at Kidlandlee is as sustainable as can be.

As soon as you arrive you will already be supporting local businesses as our hospitality gift bags are full of products sourced from some of our amazing small businesses, giving you a real taste of Northumberland.

Now that Kidlandlee is your base, there are so many memories to be made as you explore the beauty of our coastlines, castles, and market towns. Experience the evening ghost tours at nearby Chillingham Castle, the most haunted castle in England or, try your hand at broomstick flying at Alnwick Castle where Harry Potter first learnt to fly. Maybe a boat trip to Holy Island and Lindisfarne appeals whilst spotting puffins and those cheeky little seals.

Dining out is not too far away as The Star Inn in Harbottle and The Rose and Thistle in Alwinton offer two very different dining experiences. Both are on your way back to Kidlandlee so there is nothing better than popping in for dinner before heading back to your cosy cottage, log burner and that lovely bottle of Berry Bros & Rudd sparkling wine that we left for you when you first arrived!

The beauty of Kidlandlee is that you can walk or cycle for miles right from your doorstep and with our Holistic Healing Cabin on site, there is no better excuse than to get booked in for a relaxing treatment after a day of exploring. From our Cheviot Walkers Foot Hug and Rub package to The Soother Package, the opportunity to relax, unwind and recharge whilst surrounded by the natural beauty of the hills is quite something.

Northumberland’s National Park became England’s first international Dark Sky Park in 2013 and is of Gold Tier Status. It is a spine-tingling moment walking out of your cottage on a clear night only to be greeted by a blanket of twinkling stars and swirling galaxies. Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could just throw down a blanket, soak up the atmosphere and discover more about what you are looking at?

Well, you can, because we have put together a Stargazing Kit which our guests can hire to do just that! A midnight picnic under the stars! Set up the telescope, throw down the rug, empty that flask of hot chocolate and snuggle with the hot water bottles, fleeces, and beginners’ books on stargazing… you might be lucky and be joined by our resident owl who will sing its song to accompany you.

Kidlandlee is a very special little hamlet winning Gold Self Catering Accommodation Provider of the Year two years in a row at the North East England Tourism Awards and nationally at the VisitEngland, National Awards London in 2023. Winning the Silver Ethical, Sustainable and Responsible Tourism Award in 2023 and 2024 just highlights our on-going commitment to ensure our business lives in harmony with nature and our community.

Northumberland is a county of true beauty by day and night, it is the north's biggest secret and you will wonder why you haven’t discovered it before once you arrive!
