Food Poisoning - appalling response
dhahunter, Gateshead, United Kingdom
Ate here with my family (party of ten). No issue with food or service on the evening. My sister was violently sick during the night due to food poisoning. When the staff were informed the following day, the waitresses were concerned, apologetic, and sympathetic. The manager, however, could not have been less interested! The complete opposite of the lovely waitressing staff. He tried to pass it off as an environmental issue and nothing to do with the pub or restaurant. We had already been told that the veggie mushroom burger meal was bought in frozen, not cooked fresh, so we are doubly disappointed. Will not return here or recommend.
Such a shame
Visited here yesterday as part of a trip to Kielder for my Nieces 2nd birthday. We decided to eat here due to the view of Kielder Lake and also had received a recommendation. What a mistake we made. To save the inconvenience for staff of ordering together and messing about paying separately we decided to order in our couples one after another, stating we were all on the same table (which was also pretty obvious). We ordered nachos and made it perfectly clear that these were to come as sharing starters along with other starters ordered by my parents. We also asked that my nieces food was to be brought out with the starters. About 15 mins later (good start) my parents starters arrived. No sign of the nachos. Waited for another 15 mins with no sign, so my partner asked where they were to which the staff member responded that they hadn't been put through as starters because we hadn't asked for this (we did). We then had a waitress approach the table and tell us that there was a lot of checks going through the kitchen and we would have to wait our turn (restaurant was barely even a quarter full, must have been run off their feet!). ONE order of nachos then arrived and I asked where the other one was to which I was met with confusion, again and then told they would be done as soon as possible, again. In the meantime one couple on our table received their mains! What!? Our nachos finally arrived along with my nieces food (who as any 2 yr old would had gone way passed the point of being hungry) and we were outright told that the rest of our mains were all ready to come out. Yet there was then no sign of them but plenty of staff awkwardly wandering around waiting for us to finish our nachos. Our mains hadn't been left to go cold had they? Damn right they had! Some lengthily time later, the mains came out, you guessed it, stone cold. With tomatoes on a burger where we specifically asked for none, not because of fussiness but because of an allergy. Well done guys, most of the food was inedible. When we discussed with the waitress that the food was cold she asked whether we would like it 'warmed up'. Yes because microwaved burger and chips is JUST what I wanted. Rustlers do those, for £1. Tempers wearing thin my father approached the manager who then came to our table with a 'good will gesture' of £10 plus a refund on the burgers. Which would have probably gone down well had he not then rudely began to blame my sister for all of the errors including her not specifying when she would like her daughters meal. Something she does in EVERY restaurant she walks in to. Excuses were not needed, a sincere apology was, which we did not receive. Possibly the most embarrassing excuse of a 'manager' I've ever come across. Absolutely laughable. Throughout the whole fiasco, only ONE member of staff seemed genuinely helpful and apologetic. This was a waitress who had been working there for 3 DAYS! She had more about her than all other members of staff put together in this joke of a restaurant. AVOID

Were here for a weeks holiday. Food and service amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for out waiters Mark and Rob and of course Shaun - hope you enjoy the playlist I suggested.

Our family ate here today. We are four generations (plus dog). The staff are very welcoming and friendly. Meal was fantastic we all had something different from a wide range menu. Portions were huge and everything was made fresh. Couldn't fault the service at all, it was fast and friendly. Dogs are made very welcome which was a bonus.
Splendid soup served with super views

After a fantastic morning at Kielder Birds of Prey and the wonderful display we headed to the waterside pub for lunch. Many tables were taken or reserved but we managed to find a table overlooking the water. We ordered vegetable soup times three which came with chunks of soft white bread and creamy butter. It was a busy but pleasant atmosphere with families and couples enjoying their refreshments. Staff were curteous and pleasant. And the location is superb.
