AHOY ACADEMY – Pirate School at Bamburgh Castle!

June 29th & 30th | July 6th, 7th, 13th & 14th 2026 | 10am - 3pm | Bamburgh Castle

Join  Cap’n Polly No-Beard as she puts you through your pirate paces in a series of daring deckhand challenges.

Do you have the strength to hoist the anchor?
Can you steer your ship safely through the treacherous waters of the Farne Islands?
How sharp is your aim when firing a cannonball?
Are you nimble enough to hook hidden treasure and brave enough to walk the plank?

If you can whack a rat (no ship wants stowaways!), dance the sailor’s hornpipe, and prove you’re a natural at looting booty, then we’re ready to recruit you to the crew!

Adventure, laughter, and pirate glory await — are you ready to earn your stripes? 

Since this children’s activity is included with admission, families can enjoy it outdoors as part of their visit. However, if the weather turns unfavourable, staff will promptly arrange an alternative indoors.

This activity is included in general admission to the castle.
