The Official Visitor Site for Northumberland
The Alnwick Garden is one of Northumberland's most visited attractions. A magical landscape on a grand scale,
where novel architectural forms and ingenious landscaping unite with meticulous planting and spectacular water displays - the centrepiece being the Grand Cascade, the largest water feature of its kind in the UK, with 38 spectacular water fountains providing a spellbinding spectacle and an interactive experience for younger visitors.
Sit and catch the sun in the company of bubbling waters in the romantic setting of the Ornamental Garden - a fragrant kaleidoscope of colour in the summer with over 16,500 plants. The Rose Garden, where sunlight dapples the pergola-lined pathways, lies to one corner, whilst dangerous plants from around the world await you in the Poison Garden, where informative guides are ready to share stories, myths and legends.
Wind your way to the Serpent Garden with its entertaining array of interactive water sculptures exploring the way in which water can be made to look and move. Lose yourself in the mysterious winding paths of the Bamboo Labyrinth before stopping for a coffee on the sunny terrace of the Garden Café restaurant, overlooking the Grand Cascade.
Europe's largest treehouse - an enormous complex of turret-topped cottages linked by suspended walkways - lies outside the garden walls, accessible to all and home to a great restaurant. Take a Woodland Walk to finish, with panoramic views of the River Aln and Alnwick Castle over grounds landscaped by Capability Brown.
