Our programme includes local, national, and international themes with poets, biographers, historians, journalists and storytellers. Programme highlights include a performance from Harry Baker, world slam poetry champion; former NME media editor Stuart Cosgrove talking about his book ‘Cassius X: six months that shaped the sixties’; Jen Gale on how to live a more sustainable life; Brian Ward on the life and times of Frederick Douglass, the black slave whose freedom was bought by two Quaker women in Newcastle; and Neil Astley of Bloodaxe books with poets David Constantine and Vicki Feaver and readings from the highly acclaimed ‘Staying Human’.
