Winner of North East England Tourism Self Catering Property of the Year 2016, Woodside Lodge is a secluded 5 star Gold holiday home nestled in the gardens of an 18th century cottage, five miles south of Hexham, with far reaching views over pastureland and a wild life pond towards Slaley Forest, Dukesfield Fell and Hexhamshire Common.

It provides a peaceful and contemporary retreat ideally situated for exploring the spectacular landscape of the North Pennines AONB to the south west, to the north the Northumberland National Park, the world heritage site of Hadrian’s Wall and Kielder Water and Forest Park, and the Northumberland coast, while Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead are twenty miles east.

The half vaulted living space has a light and airy sitting area with a leather sofa, flat screen television with Freesat, contemporary fireplace, DVD player and ipod dock. Wide bi fold doors lead on to the terrace, with views over pasture and woodland.

The granite topped kitchen/diner  is fully equipped with an induction hob, electric oven, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, washer dryer, and a comprehensive range of kitchen utensils.

A door leads off the living room into the bedroom, again with views over the fields and the pond, and stylishly furnished with a super king size bed which can be made up as two singles on request, oak wardrobe and side tables.  Non allergenic duvets and pillows and pure cotton bed linen add to the experience.

The adjoining fully tiled shower room has a large walk in shower, wash hand basin and loo.

Outside there is a large decked area where you can sit and enjoy the tranquil views over the farmland , with a dining table and chairs, parasol, barbeque, and planters.  Here you can sit and enjoy the views, or take a stroll across the field to the wildlife pond and watch the birdlife - in spring the curlews and lapwings gathering on the meadow, while in the summer the swallows swoop and dive over the grass, and buzzards soar lazily over the woodland.

A separate lockable dry storage area is available for bulky items such as walking gear, bicycles etc.

Fantastic lodge, place and hosts!

Johnny C,
We have just enjoyed a wonderful 4 days at Woodside Lodge and what a great find it was too! Such a lovely place and in a great location. The lodge was perfect, everything about it was quality from the lovely bed, amazing shower right through to the superb quality plates and bowls! It was superbly presented and some lovely extra touches like the food basket and homemade scones that were waiting for us on our arrival (which were yummy!). Gill and Neil (and Bill, their dog!) were so friendly and accommodating, and gave us tips on where to visit. It went so quick and we wished we could have stayed for longer. We will definitely be back at some point and are recommending it to friends and family. Thanks again Gill and Neil - see you soon I hope!

Beautiful lodge in amazing surroundings

Sarah W,
We booked Woodside lodge as a last minute trip after suffering losses within our family and wanted to get away from Blighty.. On arrival we met Neil and Gill who were both lovely. Gill showed us into our lodge and went through how things worked and even went to get more towels for our son Seth. She then left us to settle in and find our feet. There was a fab welcome hamper with our favourite supermarket goods, home made scones and jam. They went down a treat 😊 The lodge it’s self was gorgeous, no expense spared on the decor, furnishings, bed linen and shower products. It had everything we needed and more. The shower was amazing also. We had a wonderful relaxing stay and will definitely be re-booking another stay later in the year to enjoy some more sunshine on the balcony over looking there new pond. Thankyou Gill and Neil..

Beautiful, peaceful and romantic

Mike T, Calgary, Canada
We stayed a week before Christmas and enjoyed every minute. Gill is a delightful host and the place felt warm and loved with lovely wood doors and a marvellous walk-out balcony. The lounge area is comfortable and has good views. Kitchen is well-equipped with a good fan oven, induction hob, microwave oven, dishwasher and Washer-drier that worked fine. The Bathroom has a large walk-in shower. There are good local Pubs within a short radius Of the cottage and Hexham is a pleasant 10 minute drive away. I throughly recommend it for a peaceful, romantic break.

Lovely, comfortable holiday home

Very comfortable holiday home much care and attention has been made in order for people to enjoy there stay we wanted for nothing whilst there. Fabulous views. We had excellent meals locally at the travellers rest, rose and crown slaley and at dipton mill. We had googled the local area prior to going but there are masses of info inside the lodge and gill and Neil are very helpful and gave us a warm welcome.
