This lovely cottage has been fully renovated to the highest standards. It has a welcoming log burning stove, 40 inch smart tv and wifi, and modern heating system. W. M. Turner loved this village and painted the castle and river several times. Copies of his paintings are above the comfy sofa. There is double glazing throughout. Guests receive a special Welcome Basket containg a selection of local specialities such as home made jam, local shortbread, beer from Hetton, a Northumberland brewery, organic eggs, fresh milk and more.
The newly designed kitchen has all modern amenities - full oven and hob, washing machine, dishwasher and coffee machine and its own breakfst bar. An attractive sunroom is at the rear supplied with conservatory furniture. The garden is fully enclosed so ideal for pet owners. Pets are welcome and pet treats, dog towel, poo bags and water bowl are supplied.
The spacious bedroom guests has a comfortable double bed with choice of duvet or sheets and blankets. There is a second smart tv for relaxing viewing. The shower room has heated towel rail, illuminated mirror and fluffy Egyptian cotton towels. Border Holiday Homes has special organic soaps made for each cottage by an artisan soapmaker in Berwick. Hairdryer is supplied.
Norham is known as the 'friendly village' and has has four amazing shops - an award winning butchers, delicatessan and off licence shop, an artisan baker, a specialist fishing and gun shop and a very well equipped general store. The post office visits on most days and the mobile fish and chip van visits on a Thursday evening. Two pubs are within walking distance of Turner cottage and good food and csk ale is available.
This lovely village has a traditional village green and super walks along the river Tweed. Two hundred yards from Turner Cottage is historic Norham Castle. The local priory church, St Cuthberts is said to hold the remains of St Coelwulf the king of Northumbria at the time of St. Cuthbert. The long distance footpath of St Cuthbert passes through the village on its way to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne
Graceful Norham bridge takes visitors across to the Scottish side of the river and the picturesque hamlet of Ladykirk. Guests might like to visit the stately homes of Paxton House about ten minutes drive away or the medieval wall of Berwick upon Tweed. A new attraction is coming soon to Duns (15 minutes) as the new visitor centre is completed. It will celebrate the racing achievements of Jim Clark, the world famous World champion driver.
The historic villages of Ford and Etal with their castle and steam railway makes a great day out.
