A big family birthday celebration weekend

Adam T, North Shields, United Kingdom
A great way to bring the whole family together for a weekend. There were 25 of us altogether and we had the main bunkhouse and one of the bothies. We all coped with the bunkbeds, surprisingly comfortable and bringing back memories of school residential trips for some!! The owners, Rob and Claire, were very friendly, helpful and relaxed, helping to make it a fabulous weekend. We especially loved the fire pit and bar area. We think we'll go again.

Beautiful location but spoiled by noisy rooms

rmc12York, York
Stayed here with a group for a weekend and we occupied 2 of the bothies. Can't comment on the bunkhouse itself so this review is entirely based on the bothies. Tarset Tor is in a beautiful location in rural Northumbria and has great view. The place is all pretty new. We occupied 2 of the bothies which are self-contained units. The downstairs has a small but well-equipped kitchen, a small comfortable lounge, dining area and nice verandah with great view.Upstairs are 2 rooms with 4 bunk beds in each and a shower/washbasin (but no toilet) in each. The dorms are rather cramped; especially for somebody over 6ft tall like me who has to bend down all the time. There is one shared toilet downstairs which isn't really enough for 8 people. However, the worst thing is the fact that every floorboard upstairs creaks loudly and there is no soundproofing so nobody in the building can move without disturbing everybody else. This is Ok if everybody goes to bed and gets up at the same time and doesn't want the toilet during the night but otherwise it's very difficult to get decent rest/sleep. For this reason, i wouldn't stay here again.

Beautiful

Kirstie F,
I have just returned from an amazing stay here. Me my partner and 6 friends stayed for the weekend with our dogs.loved the fact the dogs can run around in the fields as it was all enclosed. We had a lovley bbq amd a fire watching the sunset as the views are spectacular. Our host claire and Rob couldn't of been more welcoming. Brilliant for family friends and celebrations. Lots to do around the area and we will definitely be returning.

THREE FANTASTIC FELLAS HAVING A FANTASTIC TIME.

Hugemoney,
Rob, we liked it you know. Sat in the Black Bull in Bellingham with the lads, we were struggling to find a place to rest our weary heads after a day fraught with all sorts. Euphoria at first, followed shortly by dispair after we were wrongfully evicted from Haughton Green Bothy by spiteful grandparents and their not so well mannered snap chat happy granddaughter. We marched to Hadrians Wall, to HomeStead, then to the car and onto the Black Bull where we were at a loss for where to turn next. Phone call, after phone call, rejection after rejection, but still we persevered. It wasn’t until we were rejected by the weird drunk lady across from the Black Bull that the lads, whom we were sat with decried ‘TARSET TOR’, in their thick North Easterly accents, for a moment or three, we pondered what they meant, trying to decipher their colloquials. It wasn’t until team member 3 called up Rob, and told him that ‘the lads from the Black Bull had told us to get in touch’. We downed pint, picked up tools and drove to pastures new. On arrival, we were greeted by the friendly, glowing sight of a Leeds United AFC badge encrusted on a chest of a jumper worn by the inn keeper in question, Rob. He showed us to our keep, a self contained, environmentally friendly, hand built Bothy. We bonded over a shared love of Yorkshire and whiskey, and as he left and closed the doors, we sat back, kicked back, and drank from the goblet of bothy wine. In Rob we trust. You’ll like it you know.

Perfect stay!

beads85, Macclesfield, United Kingdom
Recently spent three nights here with friends and can't say how impressed I was! It's got to be one of the best bunkhouses I've ever stayed in, with very modern facilities! Kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms are all very clean and well maintained. Plus having access to a sauna is an added bonus! It's located in a fantastic area, perfect for hiking/mountain biking, amongst anything else outdoors activity based! Keep up the great work guys and thanks for a great stay!
