Coastguard's Cottage

Converted with those with mobility issues in mind, this three bedroomed English Heritage cottage has its own garden overlooking Lindisfarne Castle. The untouched coastline gives you a memorable opportunity to soak up Holy Island’s unique atmosphere. When the tide washes over it, the island is cast off from the mainland and you can explore the priory ruins all alone.

Visit the museum at Lindisfarne Priory and find out about a grisly Viking raid, the cult of St Cuthbert, and the beautiful medieval manuscript: the Lindisfarne Gospels. Explore the island on foot and discover St Cuthbert’s Isle just off the shore from the priory. It was here that St Cuthbert lived out his hermit years. Climb the high ridge known as the Heugh south of the ruins for spectacular views across to Bamburgh Castle and the Farne Islands. During your stay you'll be able to follow in the footsteps of the ancient monks who built their priory here nearly 1,400 years ago, and explore the wild coastal beauty of Holy Island.
