Overview

Located in the Northumberland National Park and the International Gold Tier Dark Sky Park, Brown Rigg is perfect for a quiet and relaxing break for couples, families, and large groups. Our site, 24 acres in total, is also suitable for walkers and cyclists. The Pennine Way Walking Trail and the Sandstone Way Cycle route pass the entrance to Brown Rigg and National Cycle routes 10 and 68 are just yards away. We offer secure lockable storage for bikes and there is a laundry/drying room on site.

The four, beautifully refurbished, self catering lodges are comfortable, spacious and well equipped with an open plan kitchen, dinning area and sitting room. Each lodge has three bedrooms sleeping up to six people, between a mix of double, twin, king and bunk rooms and are available on an individual basis, or you can make a whole site booking. All of the sitting rooms and rear bedrooms have fabulous views over open countryside, where our resident sheep and horses graze.

There is plenty of space for children to play and the Master bedroom in Pennine and Hadrian have patio doors that open out onto a games field, which is ideal for playing rounders or football. The tarmac courtyard in front of the lodges is also great for children to cycle on their bikes, scooters and roller blades. There is also a BBQ area and private parking directly outside the lodges.

The Function and Games Hall is available for use by guests unless it has been booked for a private function (for which a separate charge applies). The Hall can cater for a large number of people and is excellent for celebrations, meetings or for just eating together. There is a pool table and a table tennis table.

Dog friendly.

Free WiFi available.

Shops and restaurants are a short walk away in nearby Bellingham.

Hadrian`s Wall, Kielder and Kielder Observatory are within easy reach.

Great facilities, beautiful location

Stringer27,
We stayed at Brown Rigg this weekend as we were visiting Kielder Observatory. The welcome was warm, and the guest room we stayed in finished to a high standard. You’ve got the feel of a hotel, but with the added bonus of kitchen facilities if you want to cater for yourselves. The bed was incredibly comfy and the shower excellent. Oh, and Fairtrade tea, coffee and sugar, too, which is always good! Thanks for a great stay. Would stay again, and definitely recommend.

Perfect for large groups

Oohbratt, Preston, United Kingdom
A family group of 18 of us stayed over New Year in three of the lodges. Everything about the stay was excellent, each lodge was exceptionally well equipped with everything we needed for 4 days away. The exclusive use of the hall to get together in the evenings, especially on New Years Eve, was a highlight. The hall also has excellent kitchen facilities, sound system, bar, toilets, entertainment (table tennis very popular!) and as many tables and chairs as needed for big parties. Make sure the heaters are turned on an hour or so before using the hall! Kitchens were excellent, bathrooms and bedrooms all as good as we could ask for. Wifi worked well right across the site. The dogs loved it, there is a big field behind the lodges which is fenced off from the surrounding countryside. Also some excellent walks in the area, would especially recommend Hareshaw Linn for an afternoon walk for dogs and people alike and only a 15 minute walk from the lodges.

Part of a large family party of 30 for 2 nights. .Excellent accommodation in a very scenic location.

David T, Congleton, United Kingdom
We stayed in a 3 bedroom room with shared facilities. The kitchen facilities were top class .Everything you need to cook and eat was available. The accommodation was modern .A separate toilet and bathroom helped overcome our worries about losing the battle for an en-suite room. The only negative was that there was minimal heating in the main function room which wasn't good in November. If we had not been in a large party requiring the function room you would see a 5 star rating.
