Boyfriends birthday treat for three nights.

susan j,
The shepherds huts here are amazing. Set on lovely grounds over looking the country side . On arrival we were met by Christopher the owners son . He took us on a golf buggy to our hut with our luggage, a nice touch. He showed us round foxtail , we had wood for the fire , a complementary bottle of red , a cake, and some tasty honey , plus milk in the fridge. All greatly appreciated. He was very friendly and told us if we needed anything to let him know. The bed was very comfortable and firm . The water flow in shower was good. Everything you need is here and at a high quality right down to the cutlery . I thought it might get cold but I was wrong if anything I became to hot but I'm not going to complain about that . We had the pleasure of meeting the owner alun and you can read about the family and farm in the welcome pack, it makes an interesting read. He is funny without realising it with his small talk , a fascinating man indeed .Then we used the spa whilst we were there, we had full body massages off the lovely claire. Certainly recommend. The only niggle would be the spa is not up to scratch and run down in parts . Slightly disappointing as that was one of the reasons I booked it . But it is being closed for two weeks in January and being refurnished so I'm not going to go on about that . All in all a fantastic time away definitely recommend. We went for a hill walk at Yetholm on to the pennine way . Across to keilder for the day and finally cragside all within easy reach. We also went to the angler's arms 10 minutes drive away fantastic scallop starter, we went twice. A big thankyou for letting us share your grounds of your beautiful home and estate.

Paradise, whatever the season.

We are just back from a long weekend in one of my favourite places. It is a truly wonderful place. All of the cottages we have stayed in (and there have been many over the years) have been sooo relaxing with wonderful views over the countryside. Wonderful spa, childrens play room, woods to wander in, a trip to Megs Lake. I could go on and on. My shoulders drop when we come up the driveway, and the relaxing begins. Alun and Christopher have thought of everything and are always available. Thoughtful welcome pack a bonus. I LOVE this place.

Fantastic spot in a fantastic region - plus fantastic facilities and hosts (= fantastic)

We have just returned from a long weekend as a family of 4. Superb facilities - the observatory, woodland walks, tennis court, pool, games room, play barn, sausage sizzle, etc. Lots to do if you want it, with plenty of peace and tranquility if you don't. The cottage was just a good size and seemed to make good use of the space available. Nice touches like a full bird feeder show the owners REALLY care. Alun, Christopher and the team all very accommodating, we arrived to a warm, cosy cottage with the log burner lit and welcoming. Plus a bottle of bubbly for my wife's big birthday was a lovely touch. The guest notes in the file you get at such places were so frank and useful. My youngest cried as we were leaving which is always the sign of a great break. 2 days / 3 nights not long enough. I would heartily recommend.

Have stayed at Beacon Hill cottages a few times now and it never disappoints. The cottages are immaculate and beautiful as is the surrounding countryside. My family and myself just love it there it is just so relaxing. My daughter and I spoiled ourselves with some wonderful spa treatments l can’t recommend this enough the lady’s where wonderful and made us feel very comfortable and relaxed definitely the best hot stone massage iv ever had. My grandson just loved the woods and the trampoline and the freedom to just runaround. The hole place is just fantastic and we can not wait to return. Thank you beacon hill for being such a special place.

Cosy birthday weekend stay in a gorgeous shepherd's hut!

I so want to keep these amazing hideaways secret, but it is only fair to Alun and Chris to let you know how exceptional they are. Beautifully and tastefully decorated with quality fixtures and fittings, compact kitchen area with everything you could ever need. Lovely shower room and amazing, comfy bedroom. The log burner made it so cosy with heaps of wood supplied, even kindling and fire lighters. We were greeted with fresh flowers, wine, cake, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits. The log burner was gently burning away to provide a warm welcome too. We enjoyed relaxing in the spa, exploring the estate, walking to Meg's Lake which even has a grill and wood provided to cook your fish if you were lucky to catch one. A beautiful spot for a BBQ in the summer. Too many places have restrictions these days, but the owners of Beacon Hill Farm actively encourage you to have fun, make a fire and enjoy yourselves! We made a fire in the woods in pits that are built for the purpose and did the sausage sizzle using pans that are available to use freely from the games room. Freezing cold in November but sitting round a fire eating delicious sausage a fried onion sandwiches, delicious. Something we had never done before and we loved it! We were eating in Amble on Saturday night in a lovely fish restaurant called The Old boathouse. I was so cosy and warm from the fire and wine that I really didn't want to leave our hideaway, but we did and thoroughly our meal. We were told we didn't have to leave at 10 am on the Sunday and could just stay on as long as we wanted, this was very much appreciated as we didn't want to leave. We had the best, relaxing, amazing weekend which was very much needed, thank you so so much. We are back in February 2019 with the family staying in two of the cottages but we will most certainly stay in the shepherd's huts again.
