Perfect spring break!

Nicole L,
We spent a wonderful five days at Beacon Hill, with two families sharing the beautiful and peaceful Quarry House. The children loved the sausage sizzle, even in a drizzle, getting to know the horses, chickens, and pheasants, and running by themselves to the game room and play areas. Alun is a perfect host who made our stay easy and enjoyable from start to finish. The renovated spa is fabulous! The boys loved the heated pool, and the adults loved the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and gymnasium. I was absolutely amazed by the Laconium, which I'd never seen before. Relaxing on a heated bed, listening to peaceful music while looking over the countryside: I hadn't felt that relaxed in ages. Beacon Hill is a wonderful place. Before we got to the end of the driveway while leaving, our son already asked when we could come back, and we assured him we'd be back as soon as we can. We loved it.

A sunny week in January!

Frank J,
Our January week may have ended with snow but was full of sun and blue sky until then! I’d like to think that Alun provides the weather as well as the excellently appointed cottages (we must have stayed in at least nine or ten since our first visit in 1987), and the wonderful amenities such as the spa, refurbished again just before our visit. One extra surprise this time was the local hunt which met on the estate on our first morning! Not only does Beacon Hill possess all that you’d need if you stayed on site all week, it is superbly located to visit the many quiet and beautiful Northumbrian beaches, go walking on the Cheviots, seek adventure activities in Keilder Forest, search for history in the many castles or Hadrians Wall or have night time entertainment in vibrant Newcastle. Want to eat or drink locally? There are quite a few excellent pubs and restaurants in the local area. My current favourite is the Northumberland Arms at Felton. Good food from varied menu (Sunday lunch is especially good) with a quiz night on Thursday.

Winter Break

Aggers1513,
We returned to enjoy another wonderful week at Beaon Hill. Alun & Christopher are always welcoming and can’t do enough to make sure all guests enjoy the best experience. The weather during the week was outstanding for February, so we decided to have a BBQ. We mentioned this to Christopher and within five minutes two BBQ’s were delivered to the cottage. Nothing is too much trouble. We’ve stayed in different cottages over the years and appreciated them all. The standard throught from the cottages to the newly refurbished spa is second to none. The fact that the use of the facilities is included in the price is such a winner. Being situated in the countryside within a ‘dark sky’ area lends to excellent star gazing opportunities. And the beautiful beaches of Northumberland are within easy reach. We can’t wait to visit again.

The Sound of Silence

Hartlepooljohn, Hartlepool, United Kingdom
Another week at Beacon Hill, this time in Willow now possibly our favourite, Alun and Chris as welcoming as ever. Spa refreshed and looking good, the spring sunshine had the daffodils out and everything was looking lovely! What I notice here is the silence, such a contrast to our normal urban environment and of course the dark skies in contrast to urban night light. Ah well looking forward to next time.

You couldn't keep us away!

Martin H, King's Lynn
We first came to Beacon Hill in 1992 with our daughter, aged 5, and we have returned every year to eighteen months since, unable to keep away from the magical Beacon Hill, loving its stunning daytime views over the Cheviots or standing at night listening to the wind rustling in the trees and watching the lights of Newcastle twinkling in the distance. Our visits follow a pattern: first, stop at the superb cheese shop in Morpeth, then greet Gloria, the camel, at the farm in Longhorsley, followed by long walks in the surrounding countryside or along stunning beaches. We love the ‘upside down’ cottages, particularly Beech, North or South Granary and Ash. Each are superbly equipped, warm and comfortable. You close the door on arrival, sigh deeply and completely relax within minutes. Alun is constantly upgrading, sometimes too quickly for us oldies (we still play CDs!), yet the quality and décor is top class, as are the extensive leisure facilities, particularly the recent stunning improvements to the Spa. You are torn between wanting to tell the world how good Beacon Hill Farm is or keeping it to yourself in case you can’t book in next time! And we will be back. After 26 years, you couldn’t keep us away! Thanks, Alun and Christopher
