Visited here with friends this afternoon Had two rounds of drinks and starter and main for four came to £94. Prawn cocktail was large but bland. Potato skins were acceptable Sunday lunch roast beef and pork were acceptable but no cracking on the pork. Sausage and mash was the other dish ordered but that was essentially a Sunday lunch plate with sausage on instead of meat. Sadly the food was the highlight. Staff service was poor at best. Those behind he bar were either disinterested in customers and more interested in talking to regulars or other staff. Or they were just damn rude. No pleases or thank yous. Drinks served with malice. No offers to bring drinks to the table. Service was also slow. It took two hours from ordering to paying. Also staff having lunch during a busy service in the bar just seems odd. This could be so much better.

This was our second visit with our family, 4 adults and four grandchlldren, very family friendly, good surrounds and welcoming Staff.Food varied to suit all tastes including childrens menu. Service was fast and food well presented. We would certainly recommend it. We arrived early but that was not a problem to them and we were seated at our table immediately without fuss. Thank you the Staff at the Boatside,we will return.

We booked a table for 7.30 by phone and arrived early so we ordered a drink at the bar and made the staff aware that we had a table booked. We were taken to our table and given menus. We place out order and waited and waited. At 8.15 we still had not been served with our starters and gave up. I went to the bar and offered to pay for the drinks we had been served at the bar. We were told our starters were “On their way” but by then my partner had had enough so we left. So I cannot review the food as we have not be able to try it.
Beautiful place, fantastic food

A beautiful old English pub nestled in the Northumbrian countryside. The gardens are lovely with vibrant hanging baskets everywhere. The staff were efficient and friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
