We used to visit every fortnight and never had a poor meal.It has recently changed hands. I had pork my wife had lamb. The veg was hard and the roast potatoes were even harder and we had to leave them. The deserts had gone up in price and my roulade was so small I couldn’t believe what I was getting which was over £5.I felt ripped off. Luckily the waitress took the deserts off the bill after we complained about the main courses. We will not be returning.
Great dog-friendly pub in lovely location
We came here after a visit to Hexham and after googling nearby dog-friendly places for lunch. This ticked all the boxes. 7 of us and 3 dogs were welcomed and accommodated with great service. The pub is lovely and cosy and the food was delicious. We had a range of meals between us and no one was disappointed! Highly recommended!
Quality Sunday lunch

Visited today Sunday 30th September with family. Ordered the pork Sunday lunch. Quality was excellent, quantity plentiful and service very professional. The venue presents with a historic, local character, but with a modern fresh feel. Ambience great. Didn’t, have time to do the riverside walk nearby, but will definitely return soon. Well done to the staff and thank you

In a lovely location by the riverside. Dog Friendly in the pub area. Food Fabulous. Would call again.
Visited yesterday for my father in law’s birthday as we have been a few times and the food is usually nice. For starters, We ordered creamy garlic mushrooms for me, spicy chicken goujons for my father in law , prawn cocktail for my partner and crusty bread and butter for my mother in law. The starters were lovely and a decent size however my mother in law was given a bread roll instead of crusty bread. After she mentioned this they did however change it to a panini type roll. We then ordered mince and dumplings for me, braised steak for my father in law, lamb roll and chips for my partner and steak and Guinness pie for my mother in law. All the main meals were lovely except the pie. The mince and dumplings and braised steak both came in a lovely, tasty, rich gravy. The pie had a short crust top which was lovely but the gravy was watery and tasteless which you wouldn’t expect from steak and Guinness. There were also approximately 5 to 6 pieces of steak in it, many were small. We didn’t think this was good value for £12.95. My mother in law sent this back and requested the braised steak which they did bring. The manager, I presumed, came over and said he was sorry my mother in law sent the meal back but there were 12 pieces of steak in it. It must have been breeding between our table and the kitchen and there definitely wasn’t that many when my mother law cut into it. He also said that nobody else had complained. That means nothing as some people won’t complain, they just either choose something else on the next visit or do not return. Finally, we ordered coffee which was so strong. I asked them to change my latte which they did but it was no better so I didn’t drink it. Luckily when the bill came we hadn’t been charged for the coffees anyway. As we were leaving, another party was coming out and they were saying their coffee was too strong. We will visit again as this is the first time we have had problems, but will not order the pie or coffees again. Just so disappointed as we had gone to celebrate my father in law’s 75th birthday and it was below their usual standard
